Excuse us from that season, please.... if you can find it in your teal blue heart... We were a little distracted with recovery and "home games" |

And correct me if I'm wrong but the saints have always played better on the road than they have at home. Even last year 6 of your 10 wins came on the road. So I'm not buying your home game excuse that you guys constantly bring up. Your franchise stunk and was going nowhere with Aaron Brooks. |

Now let the Professor take you to school. On this board we don't just trash talk. If you are going to make statements like "so surprised if the Saints do the same" to need some reality dust to sprinkle. Let's start with the Bucs. Their rise to first in 2005 was like the Saints. They were playing the 4th place schedule. Simms made few enough mistakes to win games for the team. 2006 rolls around with the 1st place schedule, and Simms plays terrible from the start (0 TD and 6 INTs in the first 2 games), then is put out for the season against the Panthers in the third game. The backup was an unproven rookie. It started bad and unravelled pretty fast. Now neither worst to first or first to worst happens magically. So what basis in reality would make you even consider it. I admit the Saints got some help early last season starting with two games against 4th place competition from the year before (Browns and GB). But it was clear by midseason that the team was no fluke. Fast forward to 2007. 21 or 22 starters are back. Upgrades and injury recoveries are online in key positions in the secondary. The linebacker corps has been improved. The only variable spot on the offensive side of the ball, tight end, was addressed in free agency. So what would it take for the Saints to fall apart? Injuries to key positions. So let talk about a few. The most critical position on the field is QB. Brees wasn't even throwing this time last year. The guy was coming off major surgery. If he's healthy, then the Saints remain the #1 offense in all the land for yet another year. But heaven forbid he does get hurt, it's not likely that a rookie will be the backup. In the mop up loss to the Panthers the last game of the season, Jamie Martin threw for over 200 yards at a 66% completion rate. The same guy led the Rams to 4 wins in the 2005 season. Martin would have an anemic running game either. So once again please attempt to justify why you think the wheels could fall off. I'll wait. SFIAH |
Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO
Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |

Well for one thing the panthers are a better team and will win the division. That alone is a step back for the saints. Second, anytime a team comes out of nowhere to do what the saints did last year they usually come back down to earth the next year. It happened to Atlanta in 05, it happened to the bucs in 06', and it even happened to the panthers in 04'. Granted we had 14 guys on IR that year so that excuses us. The saints will be competitve. But they probably wont be as good.

I love your members too. Even though they are saint fans at least they know their smack. It should make the next few months go by faster while we all wait for the panthers to win the super bowl.

That was well thought out. Good response. I don't mind fans from other teams logging in and talking football as long as they have class and some sort of knowledge of the game. Buddy, you haven't proven to me that you have either of those traits. |
