Superbowl Predictions
Listening to WWL 4 PM Sports Show, yesterday I believe, and they were discussing Peter Kings prediction of the Saints and the Colts in the Super Bowl. Anybody know where to find this on the Internet??
Carolina was a favorite last year, and they didn't do very well. I hope the defense shows some improvement and they will have a chance again this year. If they can improve the run defense they will be a load for other teams. |
Eagles(if McNabb is healthy)/Saints vs. Patriots
There are so many good AFC teams though... if I had another choice I'd probably put Baltimore there too. I think the Colts are going to underachieve this year... just a gut feeling. I would include the Chargers here up there also but with such a large coaching overhaul, I think it's going to be tough for them. |
Because picking the Saints here would invite negative karma, I'm going with
Pats vs Washington. Pats are the obvious choice given their offseason moves. Washington got serious help in the draft on defense and was a hot team in the second half last season. Their schedule could be considered softer than most, even though they get the Pats and Chicago. They also get AZ, GB, TB, MI, Det and BUF, all very winnable games. Go 4-4 in division, they're 10-6, and the team nobody wants to face. |

The Pats are THE pick in the AFC, but the AFC is so strong all around that once playoff time rolls around things kind of get interesting, but as a Pats fan I am pulling for them. On the NFC side of the ball, it is the exact opposite. There are only a handfull of teams who look prime to make a run for the superbowl. The 9ers are the glam pick to be the Saints of this year, and the Saints are the pick to be the Bears of this year(Meaning stacked on one side of the ball, and it takes them to the Superbowl.) In my opinion I would take the Eagles(just like someone else mentioned if McNabb stays healthy) or the Seahawks vs. the Pats(I just can't NOT pick them, they stacked WRs for Brady and a defense for Bellichick to work with.
|
I don't get excited looking at PK's picks. He has been awful picking the SB contenders this early.
|
I think Washingtons defense will be sick, because injuries and all was one reason for them to be bad last year. landry and taylor together will be sick.
|
I don't get where all these people come from with the one side of the ball is stacked, and the other is garbage business.
For one, our defense knows how to stand up and shut people down when it's crunch time. For the first part of the Chicago game, they did excellent in my opinion. They shut down the Eagles when it mattered too. The part that hurt us most was the OFFENSIVE turnovers! Let's not beat around the bush, when you have like 5 turnovers in the first half - the defense has to constantly be on the field (in 29 degree nasty weather). They're not machines, they get tired. The way I see it, if we can improve on not giving up the big plays on defense and not turning the ball over on OFFENSE - we'll be the team to beat. I just don't buy all of this talk of our defense being swiss cheese while our offense is just the cirque de soliel. |
How can anyone not pick the Pats this year as a SB prediction??? They have done the most and big name changes... they are the favorites going into the season by far!
|
But how do they stand in the power rankings? hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

Ayup, MMQB for sports illustrated online....I like reading Mssr. King, but sometimes I think he's got one too many Hazelnut Grande Lattes shoved up his derriere....eh, just one man's opinion though.

Saints and Colts are favorites for Super Bowl "X-tra Large II"
I just hope this time we can FINALLY burn those bags!!!!! ........and, maybe, sport a wedding dress for Buddy D. http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/3...kahzgq8jt4.png |
Saints beat the Patriots in the Superbowl, something like 34-18.
|
panthers 41
patriots 7 |
i for one, am not going to be all on the pats, panthers, and eagles jocks. we own the eagles, panthers suck and get attention every year, and those pats have too much to deal with. it will all blow up in those guys faces, colts and maybe us
|
The Panthers always get the easy way out with us.
If it's not after a Monday night game and a short week, it's after an early bye week, or an unnecessary last game of the season. This year, a panther sweep is on my wish list just to shut some mouths of those disgusting turquoise goofballs. |
if lady luck keeps us healthy as unit on both sides of the ball the SB is within reach. The key is home field in the playoffs. If we get it we have every chance in the world of getting to the promise land. The game in Chicago will be the key to this journey. 6-0 in the division is my wet dream next year. The Fans will make the difference.

As for the super bowl it will likely be a panther blow out over the pats. But a blow out over the Colts could be a possibility too. |
I guess the Chargers should just pack it in now.

LMAO, I like it when disillusioned fans run off at the uhhhh keyboard. You have a QB controversy, Broken tailbacks, an aging defense, and a star reciever. Mark your calendar and when the time comes watch in tears as the Panthers breakdown against the MIGHTY SAINTS! MUAHAHAHAHA |

Good stuff! We actually have TWO great qbs, a top ten defense (only 2 starters who are in their 30's by the way) two speedy RBs, and a star receiver and a future star in Dwayne Jarret ( just wait and see). The saints have NO defense but a pretty good offense and a team in their division who just completely owns them! Anyway as for my super bowl prediction Either panthers 41, pats 7 or panthers 48 colts 10 Take your pick!;) |

At least we'll be making waves in the playoffs once again. I'm sure the Panthers will enjoy those victories on their couches watching us play football in the post season. |
I don't see how he can say the Kitty Cats "Owned" us. When the first String drove down the field and scored on the first poss. of the game. Then they had a tough time beating the second/thrid string.
All previous A.B. years should not be counted due to incompetence. :-( That's like shooting fish in a goldfish bowl. |

Saints vs. Ravens---Great offense vs. Great defense.

"delhomme sucks, and is always injured" He's missed 3 games as a starter in the last 4 years. I guess by your logic Duece mccallister is always injured. "your defense blows" That defense that has ranked in the top 10 four out of the last five years? The saints havent had a top ten defense in 7 years. So who's defense blows? "you guys dont own smack" Well last I checked we've won 7 out of the last 10 meetings. Sounds like ownage to me.;) |

But, we're all glad that you'll be around to remind us all of how good things used to be for your team... Guess you should get on the Cowboys' board and reminisce on those 'ol Superbowl days since that's all they can seem to remember anyway!! Meet us in the dome...... YOU'RE GOIN DOOOOOWN!!:handguns: |
that's what i thought.

Judging by their schedule this year, I've got a new nickname for them

Excuse us from that season, please.... if you can find it in your teal blue heart... We were a little distracted with recovery and "home games" |

Well actually we went 11-5 and were in second place. In fact we've been in second place the last two years in a row. So at least we're consistent. And correct me if I'm wrong but the saints have always played better on the road than they have at home. Even last year 6 of your 10 wins came on the road. So I'm not buying your home game excuse that you guys constantly bring up. Your franchise stunk and was going nowhere with Aaron Brooks. |

Now let the Professor take you to school. On this board we don't just trash talk. If you are going to make statements like "so surprised if the Saints do the same" to need some reality dust to sprinkle. Let's start with the Bucs. Their rise to first in 2005 was like the Saints. They were playing the 4th place schedule. Simms made few enough mistakes to win games for the team. 2006 rolls around with the 1st place schedule, and Simms plays terrible from the start (0 TD and 6 INTs in the first 2 games), then is put out for the season against the Panthers in the third game. The backup was an unproven rookie. It started bad and unravelled pretty fast. Now neither worst to first or first to worst happens magically. So what basis in reality would make you even consider it. I admit the Saints got some help early last season starting with two games against 4th place competition from the year before (Browns and GB). But it was clear by midseason that the team was no fluke. Fast forward to 2007. 21 or 22 starters are back. Upgrades and injury recoveries are online in key positions in the secondary. The linebacker corps has been improved. The only variable spot on the offensive side of the ball, tight end, was addressed in free agency. So what would it take for the Saints to fall apart? Injuries to key positions. So let talk about a few. The most critical position on the field is QB. Brees wasn't even throwing this time last year. The guy was coming off major surgery. If he's healthy, then the Saints remain the #1 offense in all the land for yet another year. But heaven forbid he does get hurt, it's not likely that a rookie will be the backup. In the mop up loss to the Panthers the last game of the season, Jamie Martin threw for over 200 yards at a 66% completion rate. The same guy led the Rams to 4 wins in the 2005 season. Martin would have an anemic running game either. So once again please attempt to justify why you think the wheels could fall off. I'll wait. SFIAH |
God, I love our members. We talk Saints football here, not bull sh~t! Sorry guys I never use language like that but it's a little to early in the season to me for trash talking. Hell, no on knows what they have for a team.
|
Well for one thing the panthers are a better team and will win the division. That alone is a step back for the saints. Second, anytime a team comes out of nowhere to do what the saints did last year they usually come back down to earth the next year. It happened to Atlanta in 05, it happened to the bucs in 06', and it even happened to the panthers in 04'. Granted we had 14 guys on IR that year so that excuses us. The saints will be competitve. But they probably wont be as good.

That was well thought out. Good response. I don't mind fans from other teams logging in and talking football as long as they have class and some sort of knowledge of the game. Buddy, you haven't proven to me that you have either of those traits. |
