Another example of Coach P. going with HIS players. Class move by the Saints front office letting them go now, to give them a chance to catch on with another team.
Gonna miss the Beerman - he was a good feeling story coming up from where he did. He has yet to show his flash and speed coming back from that bad knee injury. I've always been a Willie Whitehead fan, the gentle giant who gave his time to the community and never *****ed about lack of playing time. He served when called upon. He was -- as everyone knows -- the last link to Ditka. Da Coach's toupe is probably spinning on his head right about now. Nothing against Willie, but the last of the Ditka stink is gone (and thanks a lot, Buddy-D, for helping Ditka get the job and setting the Saints back 3 years). |

I had a pretty good feeling Lewis wasn't going to make the team. We have too many young and up and coming players to hold a spot for a kick returner.
Whitehead is a complete surprise to me. Is that all for the Ditka era players? (It seems like he's been around that long). |

And just a little tribute to those guys:
I remember when Michael Lewis ran head on into Todd Saurbrun the Panthers Punter and broke his nose. I also fondly remember Willie Whitehead hammering Kurt Warner so hard it knocked him out of the game. I'll miss the hell out of those guys. |
