I see what you are saying.

Deuces' only negative that I see, is his injury years. If the Saints have a good two/three year push to the SB, and we win at least one, I feel he has a really good chance. Deuce IS a prime RB, in my book. If not for injuries I feel sure he would have an extra 2,000 yrds on his total right now.

I think the two back offense will only keep him in the NFL that much longer. He should stay healthier and get stronger as the years go by. At least for four or five more years.

Scotty when you say "It'll be interesting to see what happens with Curtis Martin and Jerome Bettis." I hope you're not implying they're not gonna make it in.

I think without question those two easily make it in.

Well, I think Martin is a lock and though Bettis probably is to, I never have really thought of him an HOF'er. Overall, I generally think that there are at least three components to getting in the HOF: 1) Stats, 2) Accomplishments (Pro Bowls, Championships), and 3) I think hall of fame when I think of the player.

Bettis has two of the three in good shape so he's likely in, but I just have never thought of him like he's a potential HOF'er.

The very same may be the way it happens for Deuce. He may get the first 2, but playing in NO may not get him the recognition he needs for HOF.

For the most part I think Bettis was a team player, he had no problem taking a back seat and a reduced role in his last season at Pittsburgh and did what he needed to do to lead that team. Finishing his career in the top 5 on the ground at RB, I would think would be plenty for him to get in. Same with Martin. Only Bettis got the ring, I'd think if any were questionable of getting in (and I dont) I would guess it were Martin.

I obviously love Deuce, but I don't think he's going to be in the Hall of Fame. I'm a big believer in being stringent about who gets into the Hall, and who doesn't. HOF'ers are guys who dominate the sport when they are playing. As much as I love him, there has never been a season where Deuce dominated opposing defenses in such a way that fans were relating him to one of the all-time greats. Is he a great running back? In my opinion, yes. Is he a hall of famer? Unfortunately no. He doesn't have the numbers, the rings, the accolades, or that aura about him. I see him as a class-act who has tons of talent and plays hard. He puts up good numbers, but not HOF numbers.

Also, a little side note: with him having to share the backfield with Reggie for as long as humanly possible hopefully, I just don't see his numbers ever reaching a HOF point.

From that list i ould say it is going to tke at least 11,000 yards for him to make the HOF. A RB like Tomlinson could probably make it on less because he is generally respected as the best in the game and has been for a few years. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Curtis Martin and Jerme Bettis.

I've felt like Martin would make the HOF, but not really for Bettis. If for some reason one of these uys doesn't get in, then that will raise the bar on what it takes yardage wise.

I see Faulk with a good chance for the same reason as I explained with Tomlinson.

Ricky Waters and Eddie George are both close to that 11k, but I don't see them as HOF. Don't take this wrong though, I think a guy like Corey Dillon might make it ith less yards than them. Yardage isn't everything here.

If Deuce is at 6k now I can see him approaching 10k without another long term injury. How much more than that depends on a lot of factors.
If you click on the list, you'll notice that it is dated 01-02-05. Let's try to find something more current.

Bettis is a lock. Top 5, ring, rushing titles, pro bowls = first ballot

Don't forget another factor- popularity.
