Saints Rookies And Playing Time....

The names below are the ten rookies most likely to play some in 2007. Which players do you think will receive the most playing time?

38 Young, Usama CB 6-0 194 22 R Kent State*

30 Jones, David CB 6-0 196 21 R Wingate

31 Porter, Joe CB 6-0 200 21 R Rutgers*

95 Hamm, Jon DE 6-7 272 24 R Clark Atlanta*

65 Alleman, Andy G 6-4 302 23 R Akron*

74 Bushrod, Jermon OL 6-5 315 22 R Towson*

50 Mitchell, Marvin LB 6-3 249 22 R Tennessee

24 Pittman, Antonio RB 5-11 207 21 R Ohio State

17 Meachem, Robert WR 6-2 214 22 R Tennessee*

15 McKnight, Rhema WR 6-1 211 23 R Notre Dame

note: These are the rooks that I believe are the ones with the best chance of playing, the others, LBs Desmond Sims and Wade Koehl, OL Jake Kuresa, K Brett Bergstrom, QB Tyler Palko, RB Pierre Thomas have very slim chances of moving up the ladder. With the exception of RB Pierre Thomas possibly seeing a lil playing time in the back field and returning kicks.
*The players with the asterisks are my choices for most playing time.

I thought OL Jermon Bushrod and CB Joe Porter would have garnered a few more votes than one. The kid Bushrod is going to end up the top backup to Jammal Brown at LT. And I'm telling you guys right now, don;t sleep on Jon Hamm, he's strong, fast, big, and has some decent skills to get a lil playing time in the DE rotation.

I would have to believe our top two picks should get plenty of opportunities to be present on the field....Meachem and Young have some potential to become future starters for this team....

Bottom line, barring injury, only Young & Meachem will see significant time

Ten rookies MAKING the team might make a better conversation rather than how much they will play.

Looking at it from a numbers standpoint, I don't see how McKnight, Jones or Mitchell can make the team. Add in Palco, and that makes 11 rookies, not real common on championship teams.

Well when you look at the roster, McKnight has the best chance of making the final cut, especially since Meachem has done nothing to earn the trust of the coaching staff and all the reports out of minicamp being positive on him bodes well for McKnight. Depending on how Mitchell performs in training camp, he might have a chance to make it, with someone posting in this forum that the Saints were trying to sign Dhani Jones shows the Saints are trying to find depth at the position leans towards his favor, but it's all on him. The competition Jones faces is a lot more tougher than any other draft pick, he's destined for the practice squad.
