Rumor: Tank Johnson to the Saints

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I hope the Saints sign him, if they feel they can use his services on the team. Also if he wants to play with the Saints. I knew he wasn't drinking and driving, from the start. He was pulled over ...

I hope the Saints sign him, if they feel they can use his services on the team. Also if he wants to play with the Saints. I knew he wasn't drinking and driving, from the start. He was pulled over for another reason, and that can happen anywhere. I would think that he and Hollis would be good DTs in the second half of the season.

This reminds me of the good ole AB threads. Well in my opinion I don't care if we get him or not. From the looks of it Payton will not put up with any BS so he'd be on a short leash. If we pass on him for character issues I'm fine with that too. By the time he's able to play after 8 games, our D-unit will have gelled and should be working together nicely. Unless injuries are abundant there wouldn't be a need for him and why throw him in 8 games into the season?

So exactly like said, teams don't go around just making it known who they AREN'T interested in. Just FYI also, people called BS on that LJ nonsense too. Back to the drawing board.

As far as trying to make you look like an "uninformed fan," you're taking yourself too seriously. It's a message board. I don't know you, and don't need to form an opinion of you. Ease back.
I've already proclaimed that I don't take these discussions seriously, but thanks for your advice, Dr. Phil. You called me lame. I handed you the obligatory smartass response, and moved on with my life. I've been debating with you every day since my first thread here, and thought nothing of it.

I have far more pressing and downright macabre issues to deal with on a daily basis. I've attempted to start threads on issues that would help me get to know others, and avoid disagreements. Keeping things light, if you will. You're right about one thing:
You do not know me.

Imitating my game is the most sincere form of flattery.

Bears | Test results didn't influence decision on T. Johnson

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said the results of the blood test to see if unrestricted free-agent DT Tank Johnson (Bears) was driving under the influence had no impact on their decision to release Johnson. "We weren't basing it off the police report because we made the decision prior to that. We had a zero-tolerance policy and he crossed the line. That line was very clear to everybody and it was made very clear to him. We made it very clear to him that he had no room for error. It's unfortunate, but we did the right thing for our football team," Angelo said.
I wonder how much the Bears being a powerful defensive team, and having an abundance of good DTs played into their short leash with Tank. Just sayin...

I think Tank's about as solid as Hollis Thomas. Which is pretty good, and I'd like to see that rotation to keep legs fresh. But, like everyone else says, New Orleans isn't the most innocent place for a rich famous personality. Especially in light of NFL crackdowns.

Though you can always sit him down point blank as a coach and say look Tank, we want to win games and superbowls - you have a chance to do that here with a clean slate. That being said, if you so much as ALMOST screw up - you're out.

People CAN change, and being surrounded by positive high character teamates can only help him that much more to be a man of integrity. I'm on a tight leashed Tank bandwagon, though I'd rather see more depth at strong safety.
