Jammal Brown Update
Doug Miller, NewOrleansSaints.com
Tuesday, August 07, 2007 BREAKING NEWS: BROWN'S INJURY DIAGNOSED AS BRUISE; KNEE STRUCTURALLY INTACT NewOrleansSaints.com has learned from Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager that Saints Pro Bowl left tackle Jammal Brown has suffered a bruised right knee. The results of an MRI taken this morning show that there is not any structural damage to his knee. Head Coach Sean Payton addressed the media following practice and was pleased with the outcome of the tests run on his All-Pro tackle Tuesday afternoon. "The results of the tests on Jamal were positive," said Payton. "It came up as a bruise, so we’ll wait and see day-to-day here. The encouraging thing is that there wasn’t any ligament damage that the doctors could find on the x-ray or MRI. Obviously that’s a big relief." Payton added that Brown could be back on the field in as little as two or three days and did not completely rule out the chance that Drew Brees' blind-side protector could be in the lineup for Friday night's preseason home opener against Buffalo. "Let’s just see how this recovery process goes," Payton responded when asked when he thought Brown would see game action. "I don’t think it’s going to be a long period of time. Whether or not he plays this Friday is questionable to doubtful." |

Re: Jammal Brown Update
Great news. He should take his time coming back. This will give our backup tackles more reps... we'll get to see how deep our line is.

Re: Jammal Brown Update
This chronic knee pain he has had since college is a bit disconcerting. Is this something that can ever be fixed ala microfracture knee surgery basketball players are getting or is this just something he will have to play in pain with for the course of his career?
Im just wondering if anyone knows the cause of this chronic knee pain that caused so many NFL teams to red flag him prior to the draft. |
