this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; After Jamie Martin left the game I heard one of the commentators saying "Well Jamie Martin certainly proved he deserves the #2 spot tonight," and then the other one agreed. I'm sorry, maybe I was watching a completely different game ...

Jame Martin...
After Jamie Martin left the game I heard one of the commentators saying "Well Jamie Martin certainly proved he deserves the #2 spot tonight," and then the other one agreed. I'm sorry, maybe I was watching a completely different game than those commentators were. Is there something I missed?

Re: Jame Martin...
I did not see the game, but 14-19 for 139 is respectable

yep. I bet you he is wishing he had a younger body and Legs. he got pounded. But still gotta hold on to the ball.
He still holds on to ball to long. At the 3 count he seems to be still on his secondary read. By 5 he is only to the 2nd WR read. At 7 he is starting to go to the check down but it is to late. Hammered. He seems to be 2 seconds to slow. Reps needed maybe? |

Re: Jame Martin...
So far I've only seen the first half, but it looks to me like Martin is holding the ball too long. If the comparison is Brees for how the offense should look, then Martin looks a little less sure about where to go with the ball. That gives the defense more time to get to him.
Martin looked pretty sharp his first drive or two, but the longer he was in the worse he got. Without seeing any of the other backups playing with the starters it is hard to tell how well Martin did in comparison to them. |

Re: Jame Martin...
He's slow and doesnt' have enough arm strength anymore. At least he has experience going for him. If Drew goes down, give him one game and put in the rookies.
