I think Henderson is a good way to think about the Meachem "problem." It is very standard for WRs in particular to have a long development period (usually in the 3 to 4 year range) by conventional wisdom anyway. Obviously, there are some gifted players (or ones on teams where the starters... ahem... suck) that get rolling early; however, for the most WRs don't come into their own for several years - pretty much the opposite of RBs.

That said, drafting a player with a history of injury problems does lead one to start thinking "bust", I'd have to say. I was pleased to see that Meachem got himself ready to play in pre-season, since there was a time it wasn't clear when he'd be able to get started. He's got some tools, so let's see what he can do before we write him off.

These aren't real games and he's not being thrown the ball by Drew Brees, and that makes a huge difference (just ask all of those guys who went from having to catch AB's balls to catching Brees' balls

I thought the Saints were still highly ranked in drops last year. Each QB has his strengths. AB was a very accurate laser and bomb QB,while Brees is has better touch and excels in screens, etc. Hitting WRs in stride. Intermediate passes were his bread & butter while playing Marty ball. He starting looking deeper as his shoulder healed, to utilize the speed of our WRs more.

Anyway, I also don't call players a bust until their third season. I've seen some label Donte a bust, but I don't agree. He had his role, and 1st round picks aren't guaranteed to prosper. I guess people just expect immediate returns, since we were spoiled with some picks. Matrix didn't really stand out to me until the latter half of the season.

Looks like he's more of a Devery Henderson type receiver. He'll come along over the next couple of seasons. However, Lance Moore is a beast. He reminds me of Pathon. I can see Moore and Colston as the top 2 WR's for us with Devery and Copper flying all over the place. We have found another gem this year as well :D

Don't yall count Patten out. He's a fine Keyshawn type possession WR. Well, if he can stay healthy.
