Re: Mare
Starting drive field position is certainly a huge factor in defending drives. Having a team start inside their 30 yl repeatedly and making them march long drives to score will put alot more pressure on them and provide more opportunities to create turnovers or stall them with a big defensive play along with giving our offense good field position in return.
I agree, having someone capable of causing touchbacks and forcing opponents to work a long field more often will be beneficial over the course of games. I think we may miss Carney's high percentage accuracy at some point in the season though. |

Yeah, Olindo Mare is a great pick up for us, especially when you consider that we only gave up a 6th round draft choice for him. I don't know why we don't have Carney anymore but he was getting old, even for a kicker.

Re: Mare
Don't forget that no one gets hurt on a touchback.
Plus we know kick coverage hasn't been our strength. With the new guys we have now, if Karney was still kicking, who knows where they'd start. Mare is worth 8-9 yards. great move |

Re: Mare
Mare was a great pick-up. However, he just needs to dump that #2 and it will be fine.
