Re: Somebody Please Explain This To Me
You don't just try something, fail at it and assume the team doesn't have the ability to do it. My guess is that Payton has told the squad he wants to be able to see positive results running out of that set and formation in that situation and we'll keep practicing it and employing it until we run it properly. More so, if opponents see you consistently run certain plays on a particular down and distance the element of surprise is greater when you mix it up in the midst of a game.

I agree with the running calls in preseason. I do believe when it counts you will see more creative play calling in the RZ. There will be at least 1 pass attempt in the reg season.

Re: Somebody Please Explain This To Me
I can see it now.. it`s 3rd goal on the Colts 1 yd line with Deuce and Karney in the backfield.. The Colts' DC says "yeah they tried this at KC in preseason, protect the middle! protect the middle!". Karney goes in motion, Brees takes the snap, fakes to Deuce up the middle, Karney knocks a snot bubble in the blitzing saftey, while Brees bootlegs to the corner untouched for 6.

Re: Somebody Please Explain This To Me
Actually if you go back and watch the play where Deuce is stuffed on that 4th down at the goal line #44 Karney the FB WAS in the game and DID open a sufficient hole off to the right. Deuce tried to jump for some reason and didn't follow his block. Watch it again.
