After I watched the Saints and Chiefs game for the second time, I came to an obvious conclusion, Pierre Thomas must make the final 53, because if he don't we'll never see that kid again. I think Antonio Pittman didn't do as bad as I thought, but he do have a lot of work to do. When I compared Thomas and Pittman, Thomas runs with a lot more authority, Pittman seems to go down as soon as he is hit. Thomas has a knack for hitting the correct hole very quick, while Pittman is also quick, but he just don't have that burst through the hole quickness. When the middle of the line gets cluttered and the hole closes, Thomas bounces to the outside like (there I say it) Reggie Bush and seems faster than the defensive guys getting to the outside, when the hole closes on Pittman he seems to have a difficult time getting his feet together when he have to change direction and often gets tackled in the backfield.
Below are all the RBs on the roster, I put an asterisk by the guys that are going to make the Saints final cut. The guys in red are the three battling for one spot, all three bring something special to the table, and all three can play on any other team in the league. I'm a Jammal Branch and Pierre Thomas guy, I like Dudley but they are playing Branch at FB and he's a much better receiver/runner than KD, so that kind of gives an edge to Branch. I'm really hoping they can find a creative way to keep both Branch and Thomas, so Coach Payton if you're peeping in on the forum, make this DIE HARD happy and keep them both. 27 Stecker, Aaron RB 5'10" 213 11/13/1975 8 Western Illinois* 23 Thomas, Pierre RB 5'11" 210 12/18/1984 R Illinois 25 Bush, Reggie RB 6'0" 203 3/2/1985 2 USC* 24 Pittman, Antonio RB 5'11" 207 12/19/1985 R Ohio State* 26 McAllister, Deuce RB 6'1" 232 12/27/1978 7 Mississippi* 35 Branch, Jamaal FB/RB 5'11" 230 1/30/1981 1 Colgate 44 Karney, Mike FB 5'11" 258 7/6/1981 4 Arizona State* 40 Dudley, Kevin FB 6'0" 238 1/2/1982 1 Michigan |

Re: On Further Review
with the Saints picking 27th or 28th on the wavier wire they need more than ever to keep the best 53 not keeping aplayer just because he was a early 4th rd pick like pittman.Only with a first or 2nd rd pick dogive aplayer a red shirt year ie the wr out of Tenn. Now Dudley has a fair shot to clear waviers as most nfl teams keep only one FB however after a few games he will be claimed off the saints pt squad as the injury bug hits other nfl teams.Thomas would be the 4th rd pick an pittman the rookie fa if the Saints could re pick the draft. In camp against the same playrer lineups thomas looks best of the two players.Best as a receiver-runer-picking up the blitz-kick punt returner-just as fast etc etc only because pittman had a very good cast of players at ohio state was he a4th rd pick put thomas on the ohio state team an hes a 2nd rd pick.Same thing as back in 97 delhomme danny werfulweak arm hesa 3rd put Jake on the florida teams hes a 1st early 2nd rd pick. Not keeping the best players is part of what did in da coach ditka.I DO NOT CARE IF A PLAYER IS DRAFT PICK OR ROOKIE FA KEEP the BEST player.Only with a 1st or 2nd do red shirt a plater on your 53 roster.
