Saints/Dolphins thoughts
this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I really did not agree with cutting him, but they did it to save a roster spot. Carney could not handle both field goals and kick-off duties, so the Saints had to use a roster spot on an extra kicker ...

I really did not agree with cutting him, but they did it to save a roster spot. Carney could not handle both field goals and kick-off duties, so the Saints had to use a roster spot on an extra kicker solely for kick-offs. However, I do not think that Mare is better than Carney, as evidenced by their stats from last year. Mare was 26/36 (80.9%) and 10/18 from 40+. Carney was 23/25 (92%) and 6/7 from 40+ yards.
