this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Latest rumor is that Jamal Anderson has been working out and is "great shape" and wants to play again. Does anyone agree that this may be someone to be looked into for our back up role??...

We don\'t have room on the roster for 2 \"rebuild my career\" backs. I could see giving him a look just as we are doing with Tavian Banks, but unlike Banks, Anderson has no upside left in his legs. I would let him in as a walk on in camp, but unless he proves anything he can\'t be signed to a contract in advance.

don\'t worry lummox anderson wants to be a starter and some team (the latest rumor i heard was tampa) will take a chance on him and give him a starting job
if gruden is so desperate for a running game as to give ronde barber a shot at running the ball then i\'m sure he would jump at anderson |

That\'s kinda sad that you get so desperate to try out your starting corner at HB. What a joke! I might\'ve bought the Sapp goal line thing, but this is just plain ridiculous. Does Gruden honestly thing that just because Ronde and Tiki are twins that they can play the same position with the same abilities? Gruden is a bigger jack@ss than I thought him out to be.

Tavian Banks will come through for us! I have confidence we will be fine at RB. otherwise we would have seen much more panic at signeing a bacup RB.

Banks, Fenderson, and Keaton will all have to step up their game in camp quickly and perform well in the preseason to make the team. Depending on how the team shapes its roster it is possible that only one or at most two of these players make the final 53. If none of these backs shines enough we may be forced to trade for a quality backup. Let\'s hope that this won\'t be necessary. Each of these guys has the ability.

From all indications it looks as though Keaton is on his way out. Banks seems to have a slight edge on the #2 with Fenderson a very close #3. I admit I don\'t know much about Banks but it sounds as though if healthy he is a quality back. This is a position of great interest for the preseason. If Keaton lasts all the way through the preseason I feel certain we\'ll see all three of these guys playing allot with Deuce sitting allot. Deuce doesn\'t need to play much during the preseason. I\'d like to see Banks, Keaton and Fenderson play it out with the best two still standing at the end.

I read somewhere that Fenderson would be entering camp as the #2. I guess we can wait and get confirmation today.

It really doesn\'t matter alot who starts at #2 or who starts at #3 it\'s where they end up that really matters. May the best running back be the #2 guy is all we can hope for. Talent will prevail.
