Re: Defense Scheme ?
One word: Linebackers. We have said this for two years now. Also, the big buck ends need to start pressing it.

lol
One thing that keeps playing over and over in my mind is that age old saying of the immortal Fred Sanford (aka Red Fox) calling out

Re: Defense Scheme ?
I agree MatT. The defense will improve their look when the offense begins to role. Offensive success along with the confidence that comes with success will carry over to the other side of the ball. I believe a deep zone would improve our results. Man isn't working - we are too slow coupled with poooooooor technique and after getting burned we can't even recover. Zone may give up a few more dinks and possesion type routes, but it would take away the long ball and provide a few more opportunities to make tackles i.e. cause some fumbles...crack some skulls...make receivers look away too quick in order to see who's coming. It's the little things sometimes that don't show up in the stat sheets that might make the difference. We MIGHT even get a pick-or-two out the shear number of times the ball is in the air. The throwing lanes may even mask a linebacker sitting in a blind spot. We've got to try something different than our corners in man coverage.

Is he going to change this? because if not at this point it looks like teams will be scoring on us all season long |

We say, "Damn You I can make a man to man corner". Our Mike LB is slow and can't get off tackles, "I will coach him up, we can make due, plus he plays with my balls." One OLB is too slow, "Ah, you're making too much out of it, let's draft a Receiver in the first round and not prepare for the future." Now I know I am going overboard somewhat, Meachim may end up being great, but we needed help on Defense, and guess what we still do. Our O will come around and it will help out a bunch but we are slow on D and it shows. You cannot play man to man with our personnel. Re: Defense Scheme ?
We've (and our opponents have too) been stumping and kicking David while he's down, and McKenzie has been amazingly quiet hoping that we won't notice him. He bites too often on the pump also and gets burned with no help over the top. I think he has benefited from an easier meal on the other side of the field. McKenzie is a good tackler; will press hard on the run, and will pop when given the opportunity.. Zone allows the DB's and corners to break on the ball. Even when they don't get there in time they can deliver the message that it will cost something to catch balls in our middle.

Re: Defense Scheme ?
I think our D's problems consist of many things. First of all, there hasn't even been a glimpse of a pass rush. Give the QB all the time in the world and the secondary gets burned and the blame. Second, we have no offense at all. We cannot sustain drives or get in a rhythm. Third, we turn the ball over too much and don't create any. I think if we can get a good pass rush going and the offense gets going, our secondary play will be a lot better.
