ANALYZING THE SAINTS (FMPOV) pt2
Something happen to my previous thread so I had to do it in parts, sorry.
And now the defense: DEFENSE COACHING - One of two things has to happen for this unit to be successful this year. First Coach Gibbs has to come to the realization that he don't have the personnel to run the scheme he would like to run, forget man coverage, it's not working, period. We're not getting the type of pressure needed to run that style of defense, our safety's always seem to be out of position and our corners can only stay with the receivers for so long, they really need help back there. And secondly, change his defensive personnel, if Payton don't want to do it he should because it's going to be his job on the line if this embarrassment continues. DEFENSIVE LINE - Two games (0) sacks, ZERO. Where oh where has our DEs has gone, oh where oh where could they be? This is definitely one situation that I didn't envision at all, with Grant getting PAID, and Smith looking to get his loot, you would think they would have at lest one a piece. We had a chance to bring in a speed rusher like Simeon Rice and didn't blink an eye, what a shame, those three would've been nice. Where in the HELL is our run stuffers, Thomas and Young have been OK, but we need more out of them two because Clancy and Lake have been getting manhandled and pushed all over the field (Darwin Walker would've been nice). But the biggest surprise is at the DE spot, can somebody, anybody explain to me why we cut Ninkovich the only speed rusher on the roster, I'm just baffled beyond belief. LINEBACKER - One word comes to mind after really looking at them as a group, SLOW. Although Fujita and Shanle are during their best it's just not enough. Why is Simoneau still starting at the MLB spot? He has 11 tackles in two games which would be fine if almost all his tackles weren't made 5 to 10 yards down field, he has no instincts what so ever and he's so blockable, he is so terrible in the middle that Fujita and Shanle have to play out of position to compensate for his short comings. My biggest question is, why did we sign Brian Simmons if we're not going to play him, if it's obvious to us then I know it should be obvious to them, Simoneau is the weakest link and should be replace in the starting lineup. Again, Donnie Edwards would've been nice, and why did we cut Dhani Jones? DEFENSIVE BACK - They've been getting all the blame for the misery of the defense, although they deserve some of the blame but not all. McKenzie have been solid minus a few plays, David looks like someone who has played in a cover 2 his whole career, Harper has been decent and Bullocks look like he never played the position before. It just seem to me like they're operating from a different play book from the rest of the defense. They look worst then they did last year, the game against the Colts is forgivable, but against the Bucs, that was ridiculously embarrassing, to get burned like that is unforgivable. I have to believe they're going to play better (they can't play any worst), Jason David is very talented and he will come around, hopefully sooner than later, Kaesviharn will soon replace Bullocks as the starter (hopefully), and with a little more pressure from the front seven they won't have to be on that island for long periods of time. SPECIAL TEAMS RETURNS - Lance Moore looks OK, I mean he's no BEERMAN, but for now I guess he'll do. KICKER - Olindo Misery, I mean Mare, is two for four on field goals. That's what we got in return for Carney one of the most accurate kickers in history. Man I wish we could have kept both, Carney for field goals and Mare to kickoff because he definitely puts them thru the endzone. Punter - Steve Weatherford again is proving to be one of the best in the league. 46.9 average, 2 inside the 20, and a long of 61 yards, he's definitely one of the team bright spots. OVERALL VIEW - It's only been two games, and although they've played horrible I know they will turn it around. One thing they have on this team is character and the leaders on this team will not allow this to continue. Look for our boys to get a big lift in the Dome for their first home game and come out play hard and win in convincing fashion, I'm counting on it. Saints 34 Titans 16. GO SAINTS!!!!!!!! |

the defensive front has to be more aggressive. the LB need to blitz. Blitz the CB would not hurt either. they are not doing anything anyways. The offense must keep this group of the field if we are to win.
We are a reactionary defense. end of story, |

Re: ANALYZING THE SAINTS (FMPOV) pt2
I'm not making any predictions this week. I'm going to hope and pray! I'll let the non-believers toss some bones or sprinkle some dust. We have the talent and the potential to play good football. Let's hope that they minimize the mistakes and turnovers, and maximize their strengths and abilities toward a well coordinated team victory. One good play won't win it, nor will one mistake lose it. Determined disciplined execution of the fundamentals will get the job done.

Re: ANALYZING THE SAINTS (FMPOV) pt2
our ends would have a hell of a lot more success if we had any kind of push up the gut, grant and smith come flying around the end a lot and the QB steps right up where there is no DT to be seen, remember when Glover led the league in sacks, our DE's both had a good year as well that year, Johnson went to the pro bowl and Howard was a rookie and i think he had more than 10 sacks, because when you come straight up the gut the QB has to go somewhere, and more times than not he steps right into a DE, we have 2 great DE's but they arent miracle workers, they come around and the QB steps right up into a wide open pocket and throws the ball

lol
they can't because then they might get a stain on that new dress or a run in their stockings by the way nice read Blacksaint I agree with everything you posted Personally… outside of grant and smith (and yes I am aware that even Grant and Smith are questionable at this point) I can’t remember the D being this bad I personally would like to see Gibbs go The guy is obviously become to predictable and is too stuck in his ways to try something new |
