Peaking, Losing, and winning Monday Night

Well, well, well. Here we are after the first two weeks of the year and some of us are more than worried. Damn, I will admit I am worried. Some however are just downtrodden. The Saints can still accomplish their goal of winning the NFC South, the NFC and then the Superbowl. First things first win on Monday night, and I think they will.

Time and time again everyone talks about starting the season of hot and winning a bunch of games and getting the confidence. Well ask the Colts about whether they wanted their 13 game(or however many it was) at the beginning of the year or the end. The year the Steelers won the Superbowl they were a 6 seed.

All is not lost, the Saints need a win to breed some confidence before their bye week, I think the Saints have a big game in their system and are ready to break out. Payton has seen calling cutesy wootsey plays aren't gonna get it done. Game tape will show it over and over again. The Saints need balance and good play across the offense to turn it around. Running Deuce into a pulp won't get it done, that's not how we did it last year.

Don't get me wrong we ran Deuce last year, but some people on this board seem to thin Deuce needs 25 carries for us to win. NO, I have all of last years games taped. Deuce did most of his damage in the second half of games we won. In the first half we ran Deuce he did well, then the offense opened up. Deuce is the catalyst, when he breaks off runs or Reggie breaks off a run the defense cheats up and it lets our receivers get open. Our receivers are not fast(exception Devry) and he can't catch a cold, on the other hand Colston is not slow nor is he fast. However to paraphrase Clifford Franklin "The football is like a one man cold to Marques Colston, he's the only one catching it, he's the only one comin down with it."

Balance Damnit, balance. Our O-line will be back to blocking for pass plays this week, and when it does I think Brees is one of the best in the league at picking a team apart. I would like to see the O-line space out to open up throwing lanes for Drew, but this will require them to black better. We are not a purely running team like the Steelers used to be, we are not built for it, we have too much talent in other places to become one dimensional.

We will see it this Monday night from the Saints, balance will win the game. Drew for 280 and 2 TD's. Deuce for 80-130 total and 1 or 2 rush TD. Reggie for 50 Run and 70 RCV and 1 TD RCV maybe on Rush TD. Colston 100 and 1 TD, others... Carney with 30 rush 10 RCV, Henderson with 35, Patten with 45.

Defense will give up a big play and force two turnovers. Did I mention I want Usama and Simmons starting. Two Sacks, one strip and one INT.

We win 34-17
