this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; When I see Drew Brees throw the ball he looks like a liitle child throwing the football. The ball can barely make it 20 yards. I think there is something going on that he isnt telling us....

You must not be seeing that 280lb DE hanging on his arm every time he throws.

Re: Does Drew Brees look real weak?
While yes, he has had a lot of pressure in his face, he's also not making very good throws. He is missing a lot of open receivers. Now I don't know why that is, maybe when our receivers dropped 9 balls in the first two games he thought that he had to start making perfect passes and he started pressing. Whatever the reason, he isn't in the same form he was in last season. Good example, that 4th and 1 play from our own 45, he was trying to find Colston, he had good protection, but his throw was 5 yards away from Colston. He's made a lot of throws like that this season. Not to mention all those interceptions

Re: Does Drew Brees look real weak?
Yes, Brees has looked very bad, and yes, he has had to deal with constant pressure. I will say even when he does have time that his throws are not very accurate right now. I thought around the middle of the Titans game he looked as if he was getting the accuracy back, but then fell apart again. I don't want to start anything with this comment, but it was an inaccurate throw that ultimately got Deuce a torn ACL. Maybe the inaccurate throw was due to the intense pressure, or maybe just a bad pass. Like I said, I do not want to start anything with this comment.

Read the O-Line story. You will understand then.

Re: Does Drew Brees look real weak?
He doesn't look good under pressure, which since the Bears game has been great. Plus, he's clearly pressing trying to make something happen.

Re: Does Drew Brees look real weak?
imho...Drews size(or lack there of)...has been a factor with the opposing D-line sticking up their arms forcing him to slide left or right and not stay in the pocket. His size has been a knock on him since he was in San Diego and I think it is an issue.

What you just described is a problem with the Oline and not Drew. The only time I see Drew out of the pocket is when the pocket gets filled with members of the opposing defense. If the Oline was better WE WOULD BE BETTER. Drew is fine. Give him a break.

Re: Does Drew Brees look real weak?
I think it has A LOT to do with the pressure he's getting.
If you're getting flushed or hit on 7 out of every 10 downs (just an example, not an actual stat) then even on those 3 downs you're not getting hit, you're going to be looking around to see where the hit is going to come from. I think he's gun-shy right now from getting too much pressure. If he gets a couple of series where he's not being chased around, I think he'll settle in and throw better. |

Re: Does Drew Brees look real weak?
I watched the games and I don't think he is week
in each game all I have seen is drew being forced to put the ball in places he does not look confident about putting it in for a QB to be comfortable he needs 2 things... 1st is time to read the play so he can make the best decision on where to put the ball and so far this season he has not had that due to the lack of affective blocking 2nd is a receiver he has confidence in to make the play and the catch (ie when under tight coverage and still making the grab or sticking too and running his planed route) and once again, with the exception of Colston, well, so far this season he has not had that either So knock the man if you will but I don't think the problem is at the QB spot |
