Drafts Since 2000 - Where are they now?
I'm finding as many excuses as possible to not work today, so in honor of an 0-4 start and the pole position in the Glen Dorsey sweepstakes here are some draft stats:
The Saints have drafted 57 players since 2000. The breakdown as follows: QB 3 RB 3 FB 3 WR 10 TE 2 O-Line 10 (1C, 3G, 6T) D-Line 12 (7DE, 5DT) LB 7 CB 4 S 3 K 0 P 0 LS/KR 2 20 (35%) are still with the Saints. The league average from 94-04 was 42% and that number is probably higher for an 8 year span. (SI.com - Writers - Dr. Z: Charting the past decade of draft picks - Thursday July 8, 2004 6:01PM) 34 (60%) are still in the league (14 went to other teams and still play). 39% of the Saints' picks were spent on linemen. 9/24 postions or 37.5% (including K and P) fall in that category. 15 picks have been in the first two rounds (2RB, 3WR, 3OL, 4DL, 1LB, 2S). 10 still play for the Saints, 3 for other teams and 2 (Courtney Watson and Sullivan) are no longer playing. There's no real point here, I just like #s. There's a good chance my counts are off, but I bet they're all pretty close. |
