NFL draft to be shorter
Posted by Times-Picayune
The NFL reduced the time teams have to select players during the first round of the annual draft. The change came after that round lasted more than six hours this year. What will happen is the intervals in the first round will be cut to 10 minutes from 15 and in the second round to seven minutes from 10. "We believe these changes will make for a more streamlined and efficient draft," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. The NFL also changed the draft's schedule, moving the third round from the first day to the second. The draft is now scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. instead of 11 a.m.. Rounds 3 through 7 are scheduled for the second day, and teams have five minutes to make each choice. The second day of the draft will start at 9 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. NFL draft to be shorter - Sports - Times-Picayune - NOLA.com |

Re: NFL draft to be shorter
There was some talk of them moving the first round to PRIME TIME! It would have started on Friday night. But I can't see any positives for that at all! I like getting up settling in front of the computer and 2 tv's with my coffee and watch it all unfold.

Re: NFL draft to be shorter
I like the changes as far as the time allowed to make a selection, but I don't agree with moving the draft back 3 hours. I like getting up early, ready for the draft with my podnas, drinking beers infront of the 52" plasma. Now I have to wait 3 more hours? That really sucks

Re: NFL draft to be shorter
I agree that moving it back a few hours does indeed suck. Overall, I am glad that the draft was shortened up for the first and second round. Last year was a brutal experience. All teams pretty much know what they are going to do, why take so darn long doing it.
