The NFL reduced the time teams have to select players during the first round of the annual draft. The change came after that round lasted more than six hours this year. What will happen is the intervals in the first round will be cut to 10 minutes from 15 and in the second round to seven minutes from 10. "We believe these changes will make for a more streamlined and efficient draft," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. The NFL also changed the draft's schedule, moving the third round from the first day to the second. The draft is now scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. instead of 11 a.m.. Rounds 3 through 7 are scheduled for the second day, and teams have five minutes to make each choice. The second day of the draft will start at 9 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. NFL draft to be shorter - Sports - Times-Picayune - NOLA.com |
