Maybe the Saints are not really paying for the current kicking production or rather lack of production. If his contract is performance based than Mare will see the lack of production in his paycheck. One can only hope, eh.

I read somewhere Payton said after he made that last field goal, "ok, we're good now." Ummmm....what, were there not two other field goals missed? Sorry, I was the one pulling for him to miss the third one so it would force a change. O-well, when he misses for us in a BIG game, I don't want to hear all the whining about how we should have made a change.
The only thing I have to asked is what kickers out there are you referring to?
Gramatica? cut by Dallas for missing too many
Vanderjagt? also cut by Dallas for missing too many also missed a game winner against the Pats when playing for the Colts a couple of years ago.
All kickers go through this period. We had O'Brien because the 49'ers released him for missing too many. Than we got Carney because the Chargers cut him for missing too many.
The Texans have Kris Brown because the Steelers cut him some years ago for missing kicks. If you look at Morten Andersen's last year with the Saints he even missed more than he ever did before and then turned it around for the Falcons and rubbed our face in it. Just about all kickers go through this whether it's a problem with an unfamiliar holder or the kicker's mechanics it's just something they have to work out. Hopefully he can correct it quickly if not he won't be in a Saints uniform next year but like it or not we will be stuck with him the rest of the year so we might as well try to support him. Hopefully the offense will score more TD's and we don't have to worry about FG's.

I've always thought NOLA fans had a higher degree of class. Booing the guy is wrong any way you look at it.

before he even walks out on the field?

I have heard that kicking is 30% confidence.

Maybe if all kickers go through this - he'll snapp out of it soon and he'll have had his turn at a slump.

We need every weapon we can get right now.

Yeah, why don't we just starting booing him in pre-game warm ups. That's a big boost to his confidence. We are stuck with him (for now). It is our responsibility to take it on the chin this week and cheer this guy (untill he misses one).

You wanna boo someone, it should be directed at the GM for letting this go on for as long as it has. I mean, lets face it: down by 2, with 3 secs left on the clock, Mare ain't my go to guy!
Agreed, on the booing of the GM but.......with everything else he's done lately, I'd sure enough hate to boo even him. Loomis, in my eyes has done a very good job in the last couple of years. I guess we could just stand up and give him a disclaimer before the boo. something like this.

Hey Micky, be aware that we are about to boo you. But we want you to know that we think you are doing a great job in all but one thing, so here we go...........BOOOOOOOOOOOO FOR SIGNING MARE! BOOOOOOOOO FOR SIGNING MARE! However yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh for everything else! LOL.

Sorry Lielung, I just had to have some fun with that one. I could just imagine the confusion in the dome if that happened. It would sound like a bunch of lawyers did it.

Good Lord. Is Mare that emotionally unstable that a little booing throws him off his game? Why not MAN UP, pop that ball through the uprights and give the old middle finger to the home crowd. Shut them up by PERFORMING.
What is he going to do come playoff time on another teams field when the boos are cascading with far more venom??? Probably piss himself and hook the ball into the cheerleaders on the sidelines would be my guess. Mare will kill us before this season is over. I'm telling you all this so you will be emotionally prepared. He is going to end our season and it's going to hurt all the more because we all saw it coming and the coaching staff did nothing to stop it.

Booing effect everyone. The point is why make matters worse as the home team. Simple and to the point. Do not look at this to deep. Either you can try to help the guy or not. What kind of fan are you? that is the question I put to you.

Re: Brees Takes Fans to Task for Booing Kicker

I just had a great idea. We could all stand up and do a silent boo. You know, stand up and just open your mouth, and instead of booing, pour some beer down your throat. See, that's why I get the BIG money around here. Man, I come up with some great ideas! If some of you guys could think of things like that, you too could be jet set members. LOL. LOL. Where in the world do I get this stuff?????? LOL

I need more coffee!

Correct me if I'm wrong. The fans booed Mare when he came out for his second kick. He had already missed one, right?

Booing comes from frustration. You're talking about a fan base that had become used to Carney being automatic for so many years.

Frankly if Mare doesn't want to be booed, then he needs to do his job. AFAIC the only kick he gets a pass on this year is the 54 yarder for Carolina near the end of the game. He was hurt. It was long. We really needed him to make it, but the odds were against him. But all the rest of them are problematic.

We need a kicker we can trust. How would you feel right now if the Saints needed a 48 yarder with no time left to win the game?

Not a real good feeling right now to me.

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.
