Brees Takes Fans to Task for Booing Kicker
Didn't see this posted yet. I know there had been some comments that some people saw Brees was a little irked about the booing before Mare even got on the field. Here's the article from this morning: "Brees, who was jogging to the sidelines as the field goal unit set up, seemed annoyed by the boos and gestured to the crowd by waving both arms in an upward motion. "That's the dumbest thing ever," Brees said. "We're in a dome, great kicking conditions, but when the fans are booing you it's just echoing everywhere. I mean -- people -- support him. You want him to make it, right? Don't boo. Cheer." http://www.beloblog.com/WWLTV_Blogs/...ask_for_b.html I agree with Drew, but I personally don't boo any of our guys (I save my booing for the refs). When Mare goes out there I just close my eyes and cross my fingers and hope for the best. But that's just me. |

Drew was 100% correct defending Mare, I understand booing, I've done it in the past but to boo Mare before the kick was uncalled for..
Remember when the fans booed Wade Wilson when he went down to the turf at the Dome?, I'll never forget that, it was embarrassing to all of us Saints fan, it looked really bad on our part for booing a hurt Saints player. Anyone remember this way back then? I'm in no way comparing the two but just want to know if any of you recall that day. Most of you have I'm sure. LTF |
Rest In Peace JoeSam, thanks for everything my friend.

I agree with Drew, it's hard to do anything when your fans are booing you. You certainly can't concentrate on the task at hand. On the other hand, if you can't hit your butt with both hands, booing or cheering ain't gonna help or hurt.

Re: Brees Takes Fans to Task for Booing Kicker
Sorry, if the numb-nuts kicker had a history of hitting consistently for us, it would be a different story. But as of yet, he hasn't proven we can rely on him for the clutch kick. And Payton holding onto him when other kickers are out there that can at least give a fresh perspective, is infuriating. I read somewhere Payton said after he made that last field goal, "ok, we're good now." Ummmm....what, were there not two other field goals missed? Sorry, I was the one pulling for him to miss the third one so it would force a change. O-well, when he misses for us in a BIG game, I don't want to hear all the whining about how we should have made a change.

Trust me he knows without being reminder what kind of kicker he is. I do not think he is that stupid. cheering him and encouraging him may get us a few extra field goals. Booing him will definitely work on his psyche the wrong way. It will cost us more FG in the long run. Remember kickers and punters are loners on a football team as it is. they are delicate creatures. lol I was not a kicker but I remember, they were the group way on the other side of the field when I played. 3 maybe 4 players at the most. Thats why punters do a lot of holding. They're the only ones there to help. loners. So why make that rift any bigger by booing. Last thing you want is to start the other players believing the fans. If that happens he is done for and we are in a world of trouble.

You all know my distaste for Mare. So, I just won't say nothing about this.
I do commend Drew for stepping up for his teammate. That's what a true leader does. |

You wanna boo someone, it should be directed at the GM for letting this go on for as long as it has. I mean, lets face it: down by 2, with 3 secs left on the clock, Mare ain't my go to guy! |
