Brees' hight or lack of part of the Rams game plan on defense?
Not sure if anyone heard on WWL when a player (Think it was Bulger) for the Rams said that they had an advantage due to the hight or lack of over Brees.
Interesting huh? I did notice that the Rams defense didn't allow Brees to roll out much but made him stay put in the pocket. Anyone here think other defenses will try and do the same with Drew? Please don't quote me on the player in question because I'm not 100% sure who said it but for some reason Bulger's name comes to mind. I love WWL, good stuff. |
Rest In Peace JoeSam, thanks for everything my friend.

Well Bree's really isn't a roll out QB anyways. 3 step drop and throw is more his speed. I did see that every time they got a shot at him they took it as he threw. They treated him like a rag doll.
Get to him and disrupt him, frustrate him and get in his head his line sucks. You do that he will rush throws and take the short quick stuff. Play the deep routes and you are able to get some INTS from him. Its not rocket science... its pretty much winning game planning against the Saints. |

Re: Brees' hight or lack of part of the Rams game plan on defense?
Brees does get quite a few passes tipped, and batted down... and up. They try to stay in front, in his throwing lanes, knowing that he isn't really going anywhere. What's bad about that is we let defenses do it. Dinking and dunking: he is fantastic, 0-25: he is great, but if he airs it out, flip a coin: its a matter of who wants it most. Knowing what we've got, we have to make it work, ala Sean Payton. I don't think his height is an issue. He is a smart QB with good skills. Let's make the most of what we have to work with. He has done a very good job, but we have to keep guys off of him and out of his lanes.
