"put Pierre Thomas AND Reggie in the backfield at the same time. "

Very easy to figure this one out eh Joe?

I agree, put Thomas back there with Bush and things will click again for the Saints offense, it will would help out Bush and take some of the load off of Brees' shoulders.

You and I Joe are fishing out of the same pond my friend.
I may call Saints office and leave a message on Payton's answering machine, you know you can do that, I did it last season, problem was he never got back to me.

Rest In Peace JoeSam, thanks for everything my friend.

I believe that most of us think that Bush should be moved around more with PT or even Jamaal Branch taking on more of the running back role. What are we missing? Is the run blocking so poor that this wont work?

This goes back to the NFCCG for me. I absolutely hated watching Brees throw the football all over the place after what Duece did to the Eagles the week before. Quit being so pass happy, coach.
Though I do have Drew in a fantasy league that awards a point per completion I would still much rather see a ground game established for the benefit of this team.

What about Branch? The dude is a heck of a running back and has the size we need for short yardage and running clock in the second half.

I have been trying to figure Payton out since then myself. Whatever he was thinking last year end, he is still thinking. I know that he is a QB coach at heart and loves trickery, but if he really loves gravy he should cook some meat. Duece took us all the way to the NFCCG and had the ball handed to Brees to take us home...we never made it. I like Brees, he's smart, but he needs a running game to allow him to stand in the pocket. I was ready to throw it in when Duece went down, but then I saw flashes of hope running behind Karney. Coach didn't see it though...and I can't figure out how he/they missed it. They have high-def digital freeze frame from 8 different angles. I don't even have TIVO. I would LOVE to see Karney in the game on EVERY snap. I think he is the key to both running success, opening holes, and passing consistency, blitz protection and safety valve. That would call for a change that I don't think Payton is ready enough, patient enough, or conservative enough to make.

This is probably the most likely reason why SP doesn't stick to the running game, especially in BIG games. Lack of patience. You would think he learned something about this from his years with the Tuna. You have to run to be able to pass.

Cool Re: Interesting sean payton quote

Well guys you all have great points BUT I did not see anyone
talk about what the def. cord. from the other side of the ball,
if were playing a team that's does not give us any yards per carry
I would have to say throw it! and if we can't pass the ball then run it!
it really depends on how the game is being played out.
but thats just my view.
