2006 Was a Fluke.
I've been a Saints fan since the 1967 inaugural season, and, I can tell you that this franchise will never be a consistent winner or playoff winner.
If you don't believe me what a joke franchise the Saints are, then just read the book: "Tales From The Saints Sideline" by Jeff Duncan. You will see that this franchise has been snatching defeat from the jaws of victory for decades. You will also learn that this franchise is one of the least successful for very good reasons: they consistenly make bad trades, bad drafts, bad coaching hires AND consistently play AWFUL football on the field. Today's complete COLLAPSE that gave the game to the Bucs is a great illustration of who the New Orleans Saints really are. You think 2006 was who the Saints really are?? NO way. TODAY'S game are who the Saints really are. . . choker, jokers, fumblers, bumblers . . . not winners. |

I would usually dump this stuff in the trash can... but right now, the Saints deserve to be ragged on.

It's not a fluke. Sean Payton, excited from his passing game's stats last season, decided he no longer needed to run or use backfields for the majority of '07. There was no "collapse" in this game (versus Tampa Bay). Sean Payton called a ridiculous play in a crucial situation.
No one collapsed. It's not as if the Bucs didn't score all game. It's not like our Offense couldn't do anything. It's just a bad playcall in a crucial situation. |

Re: 2006 Was a Fluke.
I've been a fan since the inaugural season myself, though I barely remember it. Still, we HAVE sucked for multiple decades. We went 21 seasons before we finally had a winning season. I know, I've been there, so I can commiserate. That being said - the Saints ARE a better team than they were in the 60's-70's. We don't go 20 seasons without a winning season anymore.
Are we where I want them to be? Of course not. But am I as embarrassed as I used to be? -- NOT even close. I don't have to wear paper bags on my head anymore. Keep that in mind. It's gotten better, even if we're not the Pats. Hey, we even have a couple of playoff wins now. It's just a matter of time before we win a championship - though I may die before that happens. BUT... it WILL happen. |
can anyone help me id this tune? it goes thwap thwap boom tch boom tch boom tch.

This game WAS NOT a COLLAPSE. We got out played by a better team. Were we a fluke last year? Yes. I been saying that for a long time. We aren't as talented as everyone made us out to be, we were only 10-6 last year. Thats 2 games from being 500.
