Payton laid out specifics. "I think the one thing that all young backs deal with is protection and assignment and who they have, and then technique within the scheme," Payton said. "In other words, 'I have to block this player in this protection,' and then the actual blocking of them. We try to give him enough opportunities where he's out in a route and he's not in protection." When Bush fell into the team's lap in the 2006 draft, many saw the Heisman Trophy winner as the Saints' messiah. But if Bush continues his lack of production and accountability, he runs the risk of many seeing the "premier" running back as just a mess. |
