Cheering time for help

Saints fans need to be big wagon jumpers for the Washington Redskins. While the Skins may not be your favorite team, they have the best shot at knocking off our critical foes, the GI-AINTS and the Vikes, keeping the Saints' playoff hopes alive. Good Karma's gotta hit that team sometime, maybe our support will help.

Otherwise we're left with Cheering for the Bears (ooh) and Denver (double ooh).

As for the Gee-men, if they lose out and we win out (Washington, Buffalo and Pats), we hold the tiebreaker, but that's unlikely.

But it starts with the Skins, who can really deal us some serious good mojo by getting on-track

Re: Cheering time for help

I was confused about the standings:

NFL Standings: Conference

It currently shows the Saints in the 10th slot. But according to the playoff tiebreaker rules the division record is the second tiebreaker after head to head (of AFAIK none of the 6-7 teams have played on another yet).

With a 3-3 division record the Saints are better than anyone in the group other than the Lions, who are 3-2 with one to play. Also the Saints have the best conference record (the 4th tiebreaker) among all the 6-7 teams and the Vikes.

So it seems to me they should by in 8th right now after the Vikes and Lions. A win and a Vikes loss this week should propel the team into the last playoff spot.

Any holes in my analysis?

A quick followup: The best standings site, playoffstatus.com, referred to the forum before:

NFC Playoff Picture

Indicates that the Saints are in 7th place. That fits better.

So we need to get revved up for the stretch run, because the 6th playoff spot is still out there. Also until the Bucs actually win another game, the division is still in play. With the likelihood that everyone else in the 6-7 group losing again, we need to become Devon Hester fans for the week. The Vikes have three games left that are not gimmes. We take care of business and we'll be in the postseason once again.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

Re: Cheering time for help

If the Saints win out I think they'll make the playoffs being the Vikings will lose 1 or 2 games of the three games remaining but as said we first need to win the next three games.
For the rest of the season i'm a big Bears (except when we meet up), Skins and Denver fan.

Just win out, whether we make the playoffs or not. Payton would have nothing but winning seasons with us (yes, just two of them). But still...

"never had a losing season"... jeez I like the sound of that.

The rest is out of our control.
