ESPN's NFL Live totally ticked me off with Reggie Bush bashing
I was watiching NFL Live, which I Tivo, and these knuckleheads put on a segment asking the question "Is the New Orleans Saints offense better without Reggie Bush?" They trot out Stecker's 20 carry 100 yard performance as an example of how Reggie cannot be a feature back in this league and how the guy is a specialty package player. They then further dump on him by stating that Mario Williams was the right pick and how much a beast he is. They capped it off with the statement that the offense is better because now Payton doesn't have to worry about getting Bush 15+ touches a game.
Totally ticked me off. I realize that Bush isn't a complete running in the NFL. I know he's not Adrian Peterson. But he's not a total bum either. Several times this season when Payton has fed Reggie the ball he's been successful with averages above 4.0 YPC. Again I realize that his consistency in the rush game is hit and miss. But I feel a lot of that is because Payton's rush game is hit and miss too. Payton doesn't tend to feed the ball to his backs. When he fed Reggie the ball in the Seattle game he was 19 for 97 yards a 5.1 YPC. Bush is dynamic. You have to account for him where ever he is on the field. He can hit it between the tackles too. Some of his best runs this season have come between the tackles. So what do you think? Is the Saints offense really better without Bush? SFIAH |

Re: ESPN's NFL Live totally ticked me off with Reggie Bush bashing
Espn does tick me off rubbing Mario Williams stats and saying last years draft makes a lot of sense now. People only show highlights of Reggie running west and east. I just finished watching his games of him in college. He ran north and south all the time. Some of it is Paytons fault because he doesnt use Reggie like USC used him. Is the offense better without him yes and no. Other teams had plans to stop this guy. But now Reggie is not there they have no clue what to do. On the flip side he was a good decoy every defensive person was looking for him and he burn defenders. SaintFan dont worry about ESPN NFL Live. They suck at what they do anyway. Their just jealous of his talent.

Re: ESPN's NFL Live totally ticked me off with Reggie Bush bashing
I have three rules for watching ESPN... Maybe they can help you
1. If any "analysis" comes in the form of a game... IE -- Budwesier Hot Seat, Coors six pack of questions, Viagra Peak Performers, whatever... I treat it as entertainment... 2. If Sean Salisbury says anything... I take it to mean the opposite. IE -- Reggie Bush is no good, then he is good... The saints will lose to AZ, they will win... 3. If someone is yelling at you... IE Stephen A Smith... just press MUTE you are better off. Hope that helps Just remember, "Entertainment" is in the acronym so treat it as so... You know just as much as most of them and never let anyone tell you what to think or believe |

But someone correctly observed that the Saints hold all the tiebreaks against Minnesota. Of course they incorrectly observed that if both go 2-1 down the stretch that the Saints would get the playoff spot. However if we finish tied with them, we get the #6 seed and get an opportunity to give someone a headache in the playoffs. SFIAH (The anti Minnesota fan: Go Bears, Skins, and Broncos!) |

Re: ESPN's NFL Live totally ticked me off with Reggie Bush bashing
Well, I think they are in a way, but not for the reasons you mention.
About ESPN: they have too many (not so bright ) people and too many on-air hours to fill, and they do so with scripted exchanges read from a teleprompt, and their modus operandi is to create a controversy. I don't listen much to them anymore, it's been literaly years since I watched NFL Countdown and/or NFL Live. Now I hear they are making the move to actual soap operas. I wouldn't get too worked up about them About Bush: Reggie was really struggling the past few weeks, partly because of the injury, partly because the frustration of not doing what he knows he can do. I've been saying this since mid season last year, Reggie has never been coached before to be a RB, and now that he's in the NFL with guys as fast as him, he's having a hard time adjusting. This time off could benefit Reggie just to get his mind stratight and be able to watch the game from the sidelines and hopefully will give him a better undersatnding of the pro game. As for Payton, this may give him the opportunity to realize that he doesn't need too many fancy plays. |

LOL they are no worse than some of our fans. They look for any chance to belittle. Then run off and disappear when they are proven wrong. myself I have my toilet plunger out trying to save the season. I think I flushed too soon. God I love this game

ESPN is worthless now.
They are not a sports station anymore. They are a Access Hollywood type program. It's not about the sports anymore, it's about the emotions of the players, he said he said, spygate, TO & Keyshawn. They are creating stories now to create ratings. Just give us the sports. |

Re: ESPN's NFL Live totally ticked me off with Reggie Bush bashing
I believe the the FOX commentators burned Reggie once or twice during yesterday's game. I can't recall exactly what they said, but it was the same gist of "Stecker runs north and south and knows how to get the yardage" and then something to the effect of "other people don't" while the camera shows Reggie on the sidelines.
They're other hobbies (outside of Bush-bashing) probably include kicking puppies and shoving around old ladies. |

It is the easiest thing to do right now. I will not get into this bull. If the Saints and the Texans both make good moves and improve the teams over the next three years then I will start to compare. Till then I can wait and shut the media out.
