ESPN's NFL Live totally ticked me off with Reggie Bush bashing
I was watiching NFL Live, which I Tivo, and these knuckleheads put on a segment asking the question "Is the New Orleans Saints offense better without Reggie Bush?" They trot out Stecker's 20 carry 100 yard performance as an example of how Reggie cannot be a feature back in this league and how the guy is a specialty package player. They then further dump on him by stating that Mario Williams was the right pick and how much a beast he is. They capped it off with the statement that the offense is better because now Payton doesn't have to worry about getting Bush 15+ touches a game.
Totally ticked me off. I realize that Bush isn't a complete running in the NFL. I know he's not Adrian Peterson. But he's not a total bum either. Several times this season when Payton has fed Reggie the ball he's been successful with averages above 4.0 YPC. Again I realize that his consistency in the rush game is hit and miss. But I feel a lot of that is because Payton's rush game is hit and miss too. Payton doesn't tend to feed the ball to his backs. When he fed Reggie the ball in the Seattle game he was 19 for 97 yards a 5.1 YPC. Bush is dynamic. You have to account for him where ever he is on the field. He can hit it between the tackles too. Some of his best runs this season have come between the tackles. So what do you think? Is the Saints offense really better without Bush? SFIAH |
Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO
Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |
