Let's talk Eli Manning.
I lived in NY Giant country for three years. I now live in Falcon country, temporarily.
I listened to a LOT of NY sports talk radio during my time there. The case of Eli Manning WAS a divisive issue last year, BUT, this year, it seems like the Giant fanbase is largely down on Eli Manning. Let me say right now that I like the entire Manning family. Deuce and Archie are the best Saints ever in my book. I want Eli to succeed with the Giants. That said, in my opinion, it's clear that the Giants made a bad deal to get Eli. They could have drafted Ben Roethlisberger without making the Eli trade. I have another opinion. Remember when Archie and Eli went public with their intent to avoid playing for the Chargers? That has backfired. Archie and Eli made a mistake. By pulling that stunt, they upped the ante for Eli, and put A LOT of pressure on Eli to produce immediately. The Giants overpaid for Eli, and that's why the Giant fanbase have turned against him rather quickly. YOUR THOUGHTS, PLEASE. I respect your football knowledge and opinions. Let us know what you think about this. Thanks. |

Re: Let's talk Eli Manning.
First thing is I agree with you on the Archie's role. I think the lack of media in archies life hurt him and he wanted Eli's career to be better exposed than him. That about does it. It had less to do with the teams as the exposure.
If the Giants do dump him I am all for the Saints picking him up. But that would never happen. Eli IMO is not the type to do well in NY. Then again it would not hurt if the NYG built an OL to help him. That is his biggest problem. Poor line play. A WR would not hurt. Throwing to just WR is way to easy to defend. Eli can not do it on his own. His game needs work but it is all not his fault. |

Re: Let's talk Eli Manning.
I think that Ben was available if they had not traded up at all.
But, yes, you are correct, they could have had Philip Rivers. I like Eli, but, the Giants overpaid for him . . . they went for the big name, because, that's what New Yorkers always do . . . they always need the big name . . . that's why they made Hillary Clinton their senator . . . and that's why they overpaid for Eli. |

I think a change of scene maybe what Eli needs. Most teams will take him as a started. Sure he has had some bad games but he as been brillant as well and in the playoffs. Fans haven't been big on McNabb but guess what... he's still the QB in philly. I don't see Eli being run out of town even if a new coach comes in.
