2008 Draft and Other moves.....
Offense:
1. RB - I think we need to replace Deuce. This would be a priority for me because Bush can't do it. You could pick up a veteran bruiser (like Ducket, my only veteran choice) or take one in the 2nd or 3rd round of the draft (like Forte from Tulane) 6'1", 225 lbs. He's gonna be a bruiser somewhere and he's already used to playing in the dome. Keep Stecker, Thomas and Branch. 2. TE - no need here, Johnson and Miller have this one under control. 3. WR - we need a bookend for Colston, not a burner but another tall WR with good speed and great hands. Keep Patten. Trade Henderson. 4. QB - sign Daunte Culpepper and let Martin go. 5. OL - trade Deuce and Henderson for 2 quality offensive lineman or both for one great one. Re-sign Evans. 6. PK - Mare and Gramatica are gone - I would sign Bironas from the Titans. Defense: 1. DL - we were pretty good at stopping the run this year until other teams starting killing us with the pass. I would sign Haynesworth and re-sign Wynn and Young. #2 draft pick Dre Moore, DT out of Maryland. He's 6'4", 300 lbs and his 40 time is 4.82. Need I say Moore, LOL. I thought that **** was funny too. 2. LB - I would sign Mitchell from the Giants, re-sign Simoneau and release Fincher. 3. S - sign Hamlin from the Cowboys, release Bellamy. Harper, Hamlin and Special K fight it out for the 2 starting spots. Bullocks and Reis can back them up. 4. ST - re-sign Evans. 5. CB - saved the most important for last. Sign Samuel and Gay from the Patriots at all cost. Big Mac might not be back until 2009, if at all and these 2 guys have played together and that gives us a measure of consistency right from the start. Sign James or Scott from the Patriots to replace the roster spot left open by Big Mac. Release Thomas and David. #1 pick in the draft Phillips, Safety, Miami. He can play CB and Safety. with our 4th through 7th round picks (maybe minus #5 or #6 for the veteran kicker) we take LB's and CB's. I would take it something like this: 4th round - Vobora, Idaho, OLB, 6'1", 240 lbs, 4.51 in the 40 or Bo Ruud, Nebraska, OLB, 6'3", 235 lbs, 40 time 4.62. Brother of Barrett. 5th round - Andy Studebaker, Wheaton, OLB, 6'3", 245 lbs, 40 time 4.49. 6th round - Alexis Serna, Oregon State, K, 5'8", 170 lbs, made 22 or 29 in 2006, making 4-of-6 from beyond 50 yards with a long of 58. 7th round - Terrell Vinson, Purdue, CB, 5'9", 183 lbs, 40 time 4.43. Now if this doesn't make us better I don't know what will, maybe a new coach? |

Re: 2008 Draft and Other moves.....
Offense:
1. RB - This a key piece of the puzzle. Everything in the off season revolves around the duce situation. 2. TE - I think we may see a guy added to the mix 3. WR - Agreed. Meachem maybe that guy. But an insurance policy is needed at #2. Johnson from Arizona is my choice. Start talks with Colston now on an extension. 4. QB - I can live with that 5. OL - Re-sign Evans. Agreed we have him thru 2008 but an extention would be nice. At least start on it now. 6. PK - God only knows who wont be signed and will be FA Defense: 1. DL - Yep but Young maybe odd man out. All depends on who we go after in FA or the draft. but youth will be added. 2. LB - Mitchell from the Giants? LOL I want him last year. release Fincher ? Already done. Look to the draft for this position. 3. S - sign Hamlin from the Cowboys? He was always a weak link in Dallas. He is a tweener that never settled in one position. Interesting thought though. Draft maybe the better route. 4. ST - re-sign Evans. Fincher is gone so Evens is in 5. CB - Youth, Youth Youth! with a sprinkling of a young veteran or two on top. I like your draft picks. But I am holding off for right now. |

Re: 2008 Draft and Other moves.....
I can live with most of the choices. Deuce though is going to be tough to replace unless you go draft the next Adrian Peterson. I'd rather part ways with Reggie than Deuce.
I gone back and looked at some games and our OL played well at times but I see we need to upgrade if possible and Faine is big and shows some speed but doesn't make blocks where he needs to... I think we need to get him in gear or replace him. We need to draft a potential future QB and sign another veteran. Henderson stays. Get another big WR but even if you keep Henderson on the bench until you need a deep ball I am ok with that. |

Faine needs to get it in gear or replace him? But you would keep Henderson? It might not be as easy to tell when an o-lineman does his job right, it is hard to know the exact blocking assignment, what if the rb doesnt hit it where the hole was made, the qb holds on to the ball to long. It is much easier to know when a wr doesnt do his job right he doesnt catch the ball. That is his job and he is on the camera when they throw him the ball and he misses it.

Henderson I said bench not as a starter. ITS VERY EASY TO SEE A OL NOT DO HIS JOB. lets start by there is a DB right in front oh him standing there and the C comes out and moves out of the way of the DB so he can tackle Bush. I'd say that is missing a block. You have to watch the players and even go back and look for these things. You can't be a fan only only watch Bush. Its actually much harder to tell if WR isn't doing his job because you don't know the route the WR was suppose to be on. He misses the ball well thats on him. |
