1st, 1st Round Mock Draft.....
I will update frequently:
CheramieIII's 2008 NFL Mock Draft Updated 1/2/08 Pick Team Position Player Name School Brief Description of the Pick 1 Miami OT Jake Long Michigan They need help protecting Beck more than they need defense. 2 St. Louis DT Glenn Dorsey LSU They need all the defensive help they can get. 3* Atlanta QB Matt Ryan Boston College You know they need a QB and Matt would be a good fit anywhere. 4* Oakland DT Sedrick Ellis USC You would think RB, but they already have a few. 5* Kansas City OT Ryan Clady Boise State Protection for the QB will do wonders. 6 NY Jets RB Darren McFadden Arkansas He's going to make them a lot better on offense immediately. 7 New England (from 49ers) ILB James Laurinaitis Ohio State Aging linebacking corps gets a big mean boost. 8 Baltimore QB Brian Brohm Louisville Nuff said! 9 Cincinnati WR DeSean Jackson California May lose both starters and with Jackson's 4.32 speed who cares. 10 Chicago (from New Orleans) QB Abdre Woodson Kentucky You knew there were going to get a QB right? 11 Buffalo WR Malcom Kelly Oklahoma Great speed at 4.47 for his size 6'4", 217 lbs. 12 Denver DE Chris Long Virginia Should make Moss play better on the other end. 13 Carolina DE Vernon Gholston Ohio State 6'4", 260 lbs and a 4.58 40 time, this is a must pick. 14 Houston (from New Orleans) RB Jonathan Stewart Orgeon Great pick up for Houston, especially with the defense improving. 15 Detroit CB Malcom Jenkins Ohio State Can you say, "mommy please stop the burning". Jenkins can! 16 Arizona DE Calais Campbell Miami Great pick for a team in need of a pass rush. 17 Minnesota QB Colt Brennan Hawaii Jackson is not the future but is definitely the past. 18 New Orleans (from Houston) CB Mike Jenkins South Florida Speed kills and in this case opposing wide receivers. 19 Philadelphia WR Limas Sweed Texas Too big to fall off the radar and that's exactly what McNabb needs. 20 Dallas (from Cleveland) S Kenny Phillips Miami Big, fast and can play cornerback too! 21 Tampa Bay** WR James Hardy Indiana Great hands and at 6'6" not many can cover him. 22 Washington** DE Derrick Harvey Florida Need some pass rush, NOT ANYMORE! 23 Seattle** OT Sam Baker USC Pick up some needed pass protection and run blocking. 24 Pittsburgh** OT Jeff Otah Pittsburgh 6'6", 340 lbs, can open any hole you want. 25 Tennessee** WR Early Doucet LSU They need a weapon and he's sort of like a missile, yeah he is! 26 NY Giants** CB Aqib Talib Kansas This move will elevate the defense to a whole new level. 27 San Diego** OLB Dan Connor Penn State Great addition and immediate impact player. Like they need more. 28 Jacksonville** TE Fred Davis USC Big Target with great hands. 29 Green Bay** RB Rashard Mendenhall Illinois Definite need and definite great pick. 30 San Francisco (from Colts)** WR Adarius Bowman Oklahoma State Big guy at 6'4", 215 lbs and a 4.48 40, not to shabby. 31 Dallas** RB Steve Slaton West Virginia Double might be gone and a Slaton/Barber backfield is scary. 32 No Pick (Patriots forfeit) Selections 3, 4 and 5 will be decided by a coin flip. Saints pick up Chicago's #3 with the 1st trade down. Saints pick up Houston's #3 with the 2nd trade down. |

Re: 1st, 1st Round Mock Draft.....
Word is Rashard Mendenhall is reconsidering about leaving Illinois and could return for his senior season. Though, I don't know why he would considering he had a monster game against USC and a fantastic season. I think Brennan's draft stock took a little hit after Hawaii failed miserably against Georgia... though the line certainly didn't help his cause.
I wouldn't mind a trade down to acquire more picks. It's a pretty deep draft and we could still land a stud corner in the mid to lower teens. I wouldn't mind Jenkins at all. |

Re: 1st, 1st Round Mock Draft.....
i'm all for trading down........in fact, i'd be more than happy to give all draft choices away for some young proven vets that can come in and start and produce immediately.... i don't care which side of the team they are on........from there, let's go to fa and get ready to kick some azz.......the draft just depresses me lately.......give me something i know will work.......smitty

Re: 1st, 1st Round Mock Draft.....
Thanks for clearing that up, why do you see the need to trade down though?
Im just curious, and I know that we can snap up a young CB with that Ten Pick, but he still might be there with the bears pick also. I just get the feeling that Jerry Jones is going to screw up this draft for alot of teams this year....the man has a serious man crush on McFadden from Ark. |

Re: 1st, 1st Round Mock Draft.....
I just think that there will be Jenkins or Phillips still on the board at #18 and if both of them are then we're going to have our choice and we pick up 2 additional 3rd rounders in the 2 trade downs.

Re: 1st, 1st Round Mock Draft.....
Taylor Mehlhaff, Wisconsin, 5-10, 185 lbs, hit 5-of-6 from beyond 40 yards this year.
Art Carmody, Louisville, 5-9. 165 lbs, 21-of-25 field goals in 2006. Hadn't missed a kick from inside 40 yards his entire career until this season. Along with Serna these three kickers are ranked 1, 2 and 3 in alot of the prospect rankings. |
