Time for Saints to make fixes

2theadvocate.com | Sports | Time for Saints to make fixes — Baton Rouge, LA

The offensive line also gave Brees ample time to throw the ball. The unit of Jammal Brown, Jamar Nesbit, Jeff Faine, Jahri Evans and Jon Stinchcomb yielded an NFL-low 16 sacks and have given up 39 in the last two years — which is fewer than 11 teams gave up this year alone.

The only problem is Nesbit and Faine are among the 18 players scheduled to become unrestricted free agents in early March. It’s too early to tell if the Saints will try to re-sign them before they hit the open market.

We definitely need to keep the offense intact, however, if anyone is watching the playoffs, it looks like defense is going to take these teams to the superbowl. Defense is definitely the key to championships

The ability to handle a big tough defense is key also. We are close to doing it! we just need one or two players on the OL to step up or added, so we can shift the OL around. Brown back to RT is key. Him an Evens together will make the right side on of the most dominate in the NFL. We are close, so #@#@ close.
Yes we need defense all over the field also.

Re: Time for Saints to make fixes

Nesbit may walk. Goodwin can step in and play. Andy will need to get on the field next year even if it is in rotation at OG. Same goes for Bushrod.
Do not be surprised if we pick an OC/OG in the middle to late rounds in the draft. I do believe the youth movement on the OL will continue and we lost out on two of the best last year at OC/OG when other teams traded up and beat us to them. Here is kid I am keeping an eye on:

Tony Brinkhaus, OC/OG, Minnesota, 6'3, 295, 5.25
Brinkhaus is the anchor on the Gophers offensive line. Will be very attractive to NFL scouts as a athletic center. Is able to play any position on the offensive line. Plays with a lot of aggression and has quite the mean streak. One of the best offensive lineman in the Big Ten.

I know another Golden Gopher but he would be a great addition as a replacement for Goodwin as our OC/OG back up. Goodwin is not getting any younger. Alum has nothing to with.

Re: Time for Saints to make fixes

I would like to see all of the offensive lineman back next year. Both starters and reserves. Yes, the Saints could arguably lose Nesbit and Faine and not miss a beat, but I like the fact that if those two go down with injury it looks like all is still good. I know the line is not perfect, but it's about as good as it gets by today's standards. Now with that said, if either Nesbit or Faine decides they need 20 millions signing bonus to stick around, I would say don't let the door hit you in the butt.

We need another "Stud" O-lineman, and some serious "Mean enough to slap their own momma' D-line, linbacker, and secondary guys. I really don't know if I want to see us pick up an offensive weapon.
