I'd take Ray.

I'd glady welcome ANY playmaker to our team.

How is he a bad apple? He's been the emotional leader of the consistently best defense in the NFL for the last half 7 years.

Just Say No! To drugs and NFL players 30+.

We need speed and aggressiveness on defense along with a change in scheme.

The only "character" there should be on this team is mercilessness. i.e. Dome Patrol

HE IS CLEARLY BETTER THAN WHAT WE HAVE NOW AND WILL BE FOR ANOTHER 2 MAYBE 3 SEASONS, I DON'T THINK McNABB WOULD HAVE MADE THAT RUN IF RAY MANNED THE MIDDLE, SIMMY JUST RAN UP THE BACK OF HOLLIS AND GOT CAUGHT UP - RAY WOULD BE A WELCOME ADDITION

Think about this: the most emotional player in the Saints D is Fujita. He’s the only one I see trying to get guys fired up and barking instructions pre-snap. Bringing in a Ray Lewis would be more about bringing attitude to the defense than play.

… that said, if you had a choice at MLB between Ray Lewis and Mark Simoneau….

Ray"s best years are behind him, I'd look at other options before signing Ray, IMO he's pretty much done, we need to spend the money on our secondary, now if our defense was solid in all positions I'd think about signing him to a 2 year deal at best.
With this said I think he's a great leader for his defense, he brings out the best in his teammates but it's just that he's drawing near the end of his career.

He hangs with an unsavory crowd, and with the new commish thats not good. He also is one to air team laundry in public rather than keeping it in the locker room. He is an emotional leader, no arguing that but I don't think he would be the guy we want. Especially since his career is on the downside. If we want someone with a questionable off-field lifestyle I woul'd rather have pac-man jones.

Hangs with an unsavory crowd? You know the guys that Ray Lewis hangs around with? He had one run-in with the law years ago. He hasn't had a run-in with the law since then. He's supposed to be a great teammate and knows how to win.

And for anybody who says he's not the Ray Lewis of years past, you might be right. But I'll tell you what, if I could get a guy who would post 121 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 interceptions, and a defensive touchdown every season, I'd take him in a heart beat. He might not be MVP of the league, but he still racked up the 12th most tackles in the league. He had 27 more tackles than the nearest Saint. Yes, he's old, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have 3 or 4 more years in him. If it was me, I'd bring Ray Lewis in without a hesitation.
