You want a bruiser RB? I got you covered!

While I would probably go into a homicidal rage if we spent most any kind of draft pick on a running back when we already have 4 on the active roster, this kid is kind of intriguing.

Jerome Felton, FB, Furman (where?): 63 TDs(!) over the course of his career, averaged just over 700 yards and 4 ypc(!!) the past two years and wasn't even the leading ball-carrier on the team. Looks like a short yardage monster, even has the intangibles (aka small school cred) coach is always looking for. Would be a late-round flyer or UDFA.

Re: You want a bruiser RB? I got you covered!

A quick little blurb from another site about him, emphasis mine:

Jerome Felton, 6’ 0” 247 lbs 4.68 40 time Furman (1AA)
Powerful running back/fullback that can get the football in the end zone. Felton has decent NFL potential due to his size and strength. Last year (2006) he rushed for 711 yards and an amazing 23 touchdowns. He raely gets tackled for a loss only losing four yards all year. He is also a solid blocker at the point of attack. Unlike a lot of these small school running backs, size will not be an issue with Felton.

I'm fine with Deuce, Bush, Thomas, and Karney.

I am too, but everyone seems to think we need a 5th RB, probably for some wishbone formations or something. Just a guy I came across who looked interesting as a late round prospect.

I agree, I dont see why we dont just give it to Karney when we need a yard.

Pretty impressive stuff. I am amazed that a dude that big runs a 4.68. That is amazing speed for a guy that big. That is about the speed Earl Campbell was at, and we know how great he was. Maybe worth a shot late in the draft. There is no reason why the Saints can't carry a second FB on the team. That could really open the door for Karney too, as he could line up behind another big guy and let it rip.

Re: You want a bruiser RB? I got you covered!

yep he is interesting to say the least. here is another

Mike Peterson, TE/FB, Northwest Missouri State, 6-2 (6020), 246, 4.54/4.67

His lack of ideal size might scare some off at first glance but those who break his tape and workout numbers down will see that he could be one of the better h-backs or fullbacks to come out this season. He has very good speed (4.5) and is a solid athlete. He has been all-conference each of the last two years and shows the hands, blocking, and maturity you look for. He will probably be graded very similar to Missouri Western?s Gijon Robinson from last year but has the height to actually get some looks as a tight end by some. He is a physical freak who should impress at the combine and pro day.

I want Forte from Tulane, 6'1", 224 lbs, 4.50 in the 40 in the 3rd round. Knee scares me a bit but he's big and very good speed. Could gain 10 lbs without losing alot of speed.

Yeah, I know I still want Forte in the 3rd because we need a kicker late.
