this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; All 22 of the starters for the Colts have NEVER played for any other pro team. Now that's how you build a team that's championship-caliber every season....

... but then you have the Patriots with ex Chargers, Dolphins, Eagles/Saints, Raiders/Vikings, Ravens, etc. etc. etc.

Re: Stat that is mind-boggling to me
The Patriots are really the only team I've seen consistently do the right thing in free agency: they never overpay, they never go for underachievers with one good season or "needing a change of scenery," and if they do actually go after a big name they always make sure the guy is going to fit into their system. And yet they still do the majority of their team building through the draft, as all the best teams do.

We are not deep enough yet to do what the pats and Indi do. We have to keep our players and pay them. Once the depth is obtained then we can let players walk and/or trade them off. Till then we sit and build. It takes years to get where they are.

It's amazing that the Colts have all home grown starters. If you look at their recent draft history, it's no surprise. These guys absolutely know how to draft, and they do it picking late.

Re: Stat that is mind-boggling to me
Whats amazing is that as a starter Brady has never had a losing season as Pats QB (9-7 worst finish). Think about all the WR, TE & RB he's had and regardless of supporting cast he always gets it done...
