Re: Deuce-----what is he worth?
I might be alone on this board, but I am sick to death of the Reggie bashing. He's not being used right, in my opinion, and that's a crime because he is so special with the ball in his hands. Last year was ridiculous how poorly Payton used him. Look at last year compared to the end of 2006 when Payton was lining him up in the backfield and then out in the slot and creating mismatches. Last season they lined him up in the backfield and threw a screen or a swing pass, or ran it off the tackle 75% of the time. If they want him to be effective, they need to work the offense around him because he can change the game.

I still believe Reggie is the future running back of this franchise. I've been backing him all season long as some may have noticed.

Re: Deuce-----what is he worth?
People like to play the blame game. This is a unit problem, not a player problem. We do not have an OL built for the run and with defense keying on Bush he did not stand a chance really. Can he do thing differently? yes. But it is a unit problem

I guess I "P.P.ed" is everybody's fruit loops when I said something bad about Reggie.
Sorry guys, but I look at it this way. If you buy a brand new, top of the line Ferrari; and it has engine trouble for the first two years how long are you going to be proud of it? Sure, you have a Ferrari....but it only goes 55MPH. When Deuce went down, Payton used Reggie just what he was drafted for.......OUR RUNNINGBACK. How was that misusing him? I won't say I'm bashing him, just very disappointed. If he needs to be a WR the move him to #2 WR. Which by the way is not what he was drafted for. Yes, I will agree, he needs to be in open field to work his magic. And yes, I know he can work his magic in the open field. But doesn't that show that he has a very small limitation window? Just make sure you are wanting him on this team because of what can do/has done in the NFL and not from past glory as an NCAA player. |

Re: Deuce-----what is he worth?
bottom line is Reggie Bush is a Brian Westbrook/Tiki Barber type player and has similar numbers for his first couple seasons. I know that he was drafted extremely high but thats how it works with the NFL Draft. if your actual draft position had as much to do with your overall skill/potential as an NFL prospect as it should then we wouldn't have had any shot at nabbing Colston in the 7th round, get me?
yeah. he's not a 2nd overall impact type player yet, but he'll end up being worth it. |
