If Shockey played for the SAINTS or any other small market teams instead of N.Y. would he get away with the things he does. I just saw a highlight real on him on ESPN about the things he said about Parcells and he looked just like a guy that used to play for the SAINTS. Yea, his name was Kyle Turley, he had that intensity and they said he needed anger management. You know I am tired of the double standard the NFL has. If your on a certain team your untouchable but if your on a team they don't want to see succeed then your a trouble maker.

I agree.
This also helps him too though. The NY media hypes him along with the rest of Giants. I was watching ESPN last nite and they were talking about how high-powered their offense is. Shockey is decent, but I think he is overhyped. As for rest of their offense- It is laughable compared to a team like the Saints. |

Shockey\'s a big ball of hot air. Let\'s see how he handles defenses now that they\'re on to him. I agree that if he was in another market (or was not a blonde, white boy), he would not garner even half the attention he gets now.
Yep, I said it. |

Excellent points in above posts. Defenses will game plan for him better and attempt to take him out of the game and force others in their offense to make the plays.

Well,
Shockey will have to put his money where his mouth is the Giants do play the Cowboys twice. I think Shockey is a touch overrated. Teams will be better prepared for him this season. |

I personally dont like to see players that run their mouths like Shockey is doing. But you must give him props about his play, he had a hell of a rookie season. As far as the Giants offense goes, they are gonna be extremely good this year. Dont forget that Tiki Barber was only 1 yard behind Deuce last season, Amani Toomer had more recieving yards than Joe Horn also. Ike Hilliard didnt play most of last season, but the word is that he is playing as good as ever. I believe that the Giants will win their divisoin this year and be a superbowl contender this year, just like us.

I think this is great. As much as I personally dislike egotistical loud mouths, stuff like this really makes alot of crappy games exciting. I mean the Skins/Jets season opener got a whole new life after Snyder criticized the Jets front office after stealing Coles, Morton, and Thomas. This just makes both Cowboys/Giants matchups a must watch. If Roy Williams and Darren Woodson take a liking to Parcells then watch out Shockey. The middle of the field will not be friendly.

The trouble with a player like Shockley is that his opponents read the newspapers. NFL players are proud and they love to push a cocky guy\'s nose into the dirt,

Who wouldn\'t want to watch a Shockey/Roy Williams helmet to helmet crash. I\'d love to see the rubble from that.

It would be a satisfying collision. Shockey sure has put a big bullseye on his jershey. I remember when a player named Brian Boswick did that and every rb in the league took turns running over him. As I recall, he didn\'t last long in the league. He was kind of run out of the league. :P
