Recent SAINTS news and predictions from the media
As I skimmed Yahoo this morning I came across a couple of stories that piqued my interest. The first was Craig Rondinone's ranking of this year's top receivers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...v=st&type=lgns). In it, he ranked joe Horn as #8 in the league and Donte Stallworth as #25. While it's nice to get some recognition, I hope that he comes to realize that he may have underestimated the Brooks-Horn/Stallworth connections as the season gets underway.
The second article was by was an August 8th piece by Chris Carter that predicted the finishing order of the NFC South (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...yhoo&type=lgns). Although Carter recognizes that we have a very explosive offense, he doesn't seem to put too much faith in an improved SAINTS defense. He picks the SAINTS to finish 3rd behing T.B. and Atlanta. Again, i believe he may be underestimating this year's team. Go SAINTS!!!!! David in Houston |

It is better to be underestimated than overestimated. Many teams fly under the radar, few soar high over the target and hit anything. As for our defense, it has to prove itself on the field. You predictions are just opinions and you know what they say about opinions.

Position for position we have gotten better on paper. But I agree we still have to prove it on the field.

Do not feel too disheartened if the pundits do not predict the Saints to come thru. We are in a very tough Division. The Bucs (now) have been there and done that. The DirtyBirds have the Vic factor with WR support. And Carolina have speeded up their personnel.
The BIG question is: Can we show that we will not fall away in the 4th quarter (of the season) The Saints certainly LOOK good, but the optimism is high (Record sales). But it counts only on the field. Gosh, I remember when 8-8 was a good season. The frightening thing is that this Division could bust each other up so much that there is no wild card team. :casstet: |
