Gramatica re-signed
Martin Gramatica-K-Saints Feb. 12 - 4:01 pm et
Saints signed K Martin Gramatica. Gramatica was with the Saints for the final three games of last season and made all five of his field goal attempts, including two kicks of over 40 yards and one of over 50. He should have a leg up on beating out Olindo Mare for the starting job. Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune I guess it's Mare vs. Gramatica... hopefully Martin is able to out kick that other sad excuse of a kicker. |

Saints add 2 new coaches and resign Kicker
Saints re-sign K Gramatica, hire 2 assistant coaches
February 12, 2008 NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The New Orleans Saints re-signed kicker Martin Gramatica and added two new assistant coaches on Tuesday. Gramatica joined the Saints for the final three games in 2007 and made all five of his field goal attempts. He will compete in training camp with Olindo Mare, who struggled for much of the 2007 season before suffering a season-ending hip injury in December. The Saints also hired running backs coach Aaron Kromer and assistant defensive line coach Travis Jones. Kromer has been an offensive line assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders for the past seven years. Jones was the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at LSU from 2003-04 before working for the last three years as a defensive assistant with the Miami Dolphins. |

"The New Orleans Saints re-signed kicker Martin Gramatica"
Thanks Lord! Besides the 4 game win streak to hit 4 and 4, Gramatica was unfortunately the only bright light this season... and he was added at the last minute! |

Gramatica plans to keep on kicking for Saints
SunHerald.com : Gramatica plans to keep on kicking for Saints
The Saints made three other assistant coach changes this offseason. Special teams coach John Bonamego left to coach for the Dolphins, defensive backs coach Tom Hayes was fired and defensive line coach Marion Hobby left for Duke. Greg McMahon, Dennis Allen and former Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron replaced the three. |

Re: Gramatica plans to keep on kicking for Saints
Well, a lot of you may remember that I am not a Gramatica fan. But I will admit, he did play well. Hopefully Gramatica is back to where he was when he was in his prime with Tampa Bay. He is still young, and should not have a problem winning the job over Mare. (Well, Carney shouldn't have lost his job to Mare, so we will see). All the Saints need from Gramatica is to be consistent within 40 yards. If he is, all is good in my book. I guess if Gramatica is the guy, they will need to spend a lot of time with Steve Weatherford during the off season getting him ready for kickoff duty.
GO HAMBURGLAR!!! LOL |
