Small school at 10: Dominique

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Tennessee State (1/27)
Height: 6-1. Weight: 183.
40 Time: 4.37.
Projected Round: Top 15 Pick.

Wow, how was this guy not recruited by any BCS schools? Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie covers well, makes big plays and tackles extremely well. He's tall and runs a 4.3. Excluding Sedrick Ellis, Rodgers-Cromartie made the most money at the Senior Bowl, moving himself into the Top 15.

A tall corner who runs a 4.3 is pretty rare. Getting one that picks off six passes in a season is like finding the Loch Ness Monster.

Ok if we are going to take the risk go with him over the others. hyped or not lets go for broke. If not tade down and go the safer route with Aqib Talib or Antoine Cason.

Re: Small school at 10: Dominique

Had he not been a small school prospect, he would have been a lock for the top 15 from what I've seen of him. I've seen a majority of the top corners play and I've been most impressed with Cromartie. My top choice at corner is McKelvin though as he's played better competition and is explosive on special teams. No matter how much I like him... it's hard to take him that high b/c of the level of competition he's been playing.

Maybe his grades kept him from being recruited by Division 1A schools... or sometimes it just takes longer for some guys to develop. Whoever selects DRC, they're getting a very good corner.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

All little common sense goes a long way.

Whoever drafts him is doing it almost purely on his potential upside. That's going to be a ton of upside, though -- just look at what the other Cromartie managed to do after he got some time under his belt. If McKelvin isn't there at 10, I'd much rather we go with DRC than with Jenkins.

I just found this:

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect

Sounds like he is one of those guys that will take a few years to get going.

So your not too thrilled with the small school CB either. How did this draft turn from a solid group of CBs to a group of over hyped CB so fast? Maybe it is because the WRs this year are weak, so they look good.
Man the combine has not even started yet. One if not two of them will be around in the second round for us to pick. right now up to 6 CB and 5 OT are schedualed to be picked. LOL this has to be a first of some kind if it happens. For once I want the combine to clear things up.

If the Pats don't get him first, I think Brandon Flowers has begun to emerge as our #10 pick.

Nothing wrong with Leodis or Aqib Talib there either. It's obvious that our future at CB is in this year's draft.

Thanks to SF'76 I am a DRC fan. I would not complain if we went with him at 10.

Thanks Sapp, I wouldn't be surprised, though to see him slide to round 2. Then, definitely!!!

If we were drafting in the lower teens or early 20s, I'd have no problem taking DRC... I love the guy. 10 is just a little too early. However if we did reach and take him there, I'd be fine with it.
