carr , a decent backup?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; A year ago I was all for it, now I say no. Developing Palko is a better choice at this point, and right now Martin is better than Carr for the backup job....

Re: carr , a decent backup?

If Drew goes down this season for any reason and we have to go to the bench then Lord help us we're toast. I think that if not in this years draft then certainly in next years draft we need to address the heir apparent for Drew. The practice squad dummies we've got ridding the pine right now are not gonna be able to take this team to the next level when or if necessary.

I think the redskins voided the rest of Brunell's contract. I'd be cautiously in favor of him as a last resort.

If we want a decent backup, I think the Rams are about to release Gus Frerotte. Just keep him away from any goalposts and he would be ok.

How does that old saying go...? "you can't teach an old dog new tricks!"

yeah, and "damaged goods" comes to mind too.

I prefer the saying "You can't polish a turd."

Re: carr , a decent backup?

Carr was handed a golden opportunity to revive his career last year and he ended up being replaced by a 44 year old journeyman and an undrafted rookie. I believe his days in the NFL may very well be over.

As for the rest of the junk out there at QB, Frerotte may be the best option as a guy who can come in and play 3 or 4 games and give us a shot to win.
