Denver releases Walker and Gold
Broncos release WR Walker, LB Gold
Broncos release WR Walker, LB Gold Denver Broncos ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Javon Walker got his wish Friday when the Broncos released the oft-injured wide receiver, who had a brilliant first season in Denver but then saw teammate Darrent Williams collapse in his arms after a tragic shooting. Javon Walker, WR Career Statistics: Receptions: 252 Yards: 3,815 Average: 15.1 Touchdowns: 30 Upset with his contract in Green Bay and Brett Favre's public criticism of his threatened holdout, Walker came to Denver from the Packers in a draft day trade in 2006. Walker bounced back from a torn knee ligament that wiped out most of his 2005 season, piling up 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns on 69 catches in 2006. But hours after the season ended, Williams was slain in a drive-by shooting and slumped into Walker's arms in the back of a stretch Hummer. Walker started out last season with two 100-yard games but missed two months after a third operation on his right knee. He was supplanted by Brandon Marshall as the team's top receiver. The Broncos also released linebacker Ian Gold, who spent seven seasons in Denver sandwiched around a season in Tampa Bay in 2004. I think we should go after Gold, maybe even Walker. With Vilma, Gold and Fujita as our linebackers we would have a pretty solid group. Shanle can be a goos contributor on special teams. |
W.T. Sherman is my favorite General. After all he did order Atlanta to be burned to the ground.
