Denver releases Walker and Gold
Broncos release WR Walker, LB Gold
Broncos release WR Walker, LB Gold Denver Broncos ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Javon Walker got his wish Friday when the Broncos released the oft-injured wide receiver, who had a brilliant first season in Denver but then saw teammate Darrent Williams collapse in his arms after a tragic shooting. Javon Walker, WR Career Statistics: Receptions: 252 Yards: 3,815 Average: 15.1 Touchdowns: 30 Upset with his contract in Green Bay and Brett Favre's public criticism of his threatened holdout, Walker came to Denver from the Packers in a draft day trade in 2006. Walker bounced back from a torn knee ligament that wiped out most of his 2005 season, piling up 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns on 69 catches in 2006. But hours after the season ended, Williams was slain in a drive-by shooting and slumped into Walker's arms in the back of a stretch Hummer. Walker started out last season with two 100-yard games but missed two months after a third operation on his right knee. He was supplanted by Brandon Marshall as the team's top receiver. The Broncos also released linebacker Ian Gold, who spent seven seasons in Denver sandwiched around a season in Tampa Bay in 2004. I think we should go after Gold, maybe even Walker. With Vilma, Gold and Fujita as our linebackers we would have a pretty solid group. Shanle can be a goos contributor on special teams. |
W.T. Sherman is my favorite General. After all he did order Atlanta to be burned to the ground.

Re: Denver releases Walker and Gold
Go after Gold, that'd be sweet. Gold, Vilma, Fujita is a helluva linebacking corps. Do that, and all of a sudden, one of the biggest weaknesses on our team for years has become one of our biggest strengths.

I'll pass on both of them...Walker thinks he is better than he really is and he is going to convince some team to pay him a lot of money.
Gold is one of those undersized guys who is probably a better fit in a Tampa 2. I would like the Saints to target a bigger LB. |

Re: Denver releases Walker and Gold
dont really know a whole lot about ian gold b/c i have not watched denver a whole lot over the years.....but he is a LB, and has been successful in the league so lets look (although i do like big LB's better too boba)
walker on the other hand, i am OUT! this guy is injury prone and cant be pleased! green bay and now denver? i understand that he lost a close friend in denver but that is no reason to want out. he wants out b/c he lost his #1 status to a better reciever, well i got news for ya....he cant compete with colston, so he would cry about the ball here too. i feel like he is selfish and has no loyalty or understanding of "team". man i usually dont bash people that bad, i feel guilty.... |

Re: Denver releases Walker and Gold
Hmmm Gold is interesting. 6-0, 223 SLB in Denver. Why is he playing SLB? To slow? Or is Webster that good of an WLB and the Broncos do not have a better SLB? So maybe he is playing out of position and should slide over to WLB. Any one answer this question?

if the price is right, it can't hurt to give em a go. You can always cut em later.

Re: Denver releases Walker and Gold
Rather not waste space and money on a guy like Gold who is barely an upgrade over Shanle. We need impact players such as Vilma is. Briggs would be one too if we could land him to complete the trio. CB's damn well better be a focus on draft day and further in FA though.
