Completely off my rocker: What about Moss?
I've been pounding the podium about how the Saints should only look at defensive free agents.
But I'm watching John Clayton on ESPN point out that Randy Moss isn't close to a deal with the Patriots. Now that guy would actually be worth paying $10 million a year to bring to the Saints. Thoughts? SFIAH |

I think the money could be used in a much wiser fashion. Then again, I don't think Randy Moss on your team hurts - regardless of how much you pay for him.
I don't know if I could ever accept him as a Saint, though. It wouldn't seem like the same team. Then again..... I'm going 'off my rocker' on Marlon McCree, though. Bullocks? Harper? C'mon... McCree could help our CB's, plus he has the chance to take it to the house every pick he gets. |

the Saints don't make big moves like that. They can never seem to get the BIG names. Thats why I'm not surprised by us not getting Samuel. So we definitely wouldn't get Moss... We sit on the sidelines during the FA period for some reason. Then go after the left overs (Jason David)

true. but I really think Copper was resigned b/c of his special teams ability. We have Lance Moore who looked good. Colston of course. And I really believe Reggie will be used as more of a receiver this year. We need to bring in maybe 1 reliable receiver for the 2 spot.

Sorry but you had that coming as I'm sure you knew it would. Anyways... I was a big proponent of trading for Moss while he was a Raider. I would love to have him opposite Colston. Our offense would be sick. |

Interesting. Sign Moss, forget about putting that money into the defense, and hope to score 35 points a game. As for me, I don't know if I would like this at first, but I would probably become a big time Moss fan if it did happen. At least the entertainment value would be there, and with some improvements on defense it could lead to something big.

Moss would help a lot on the field for the Saints but it would hurt with the cap and they need the extra money to spend on defense..

Re: Completely off my rocker: What about Moss?
Moss has to be in the right place and the right system. I think that has been proven and if Moss isn't stupid and learned from the Raiders debacle then he'd be smart to hold out for the money but eventually stay put in NE.
Moss is going to do what for us??? I don't buy he'll match his TD output from NE in NO. Might average a few more points offensively for us but unless we can slow our opponets down - we'll end up in a shoot out and some how shoot ourselves in the foot. EXAMPLE - 2007 New England Patriots. Sorry I'd rather be the Giants and actually win the SB instead of just getting there. |

I just want to make clear I'm not talking about a WR. I'm talking about the best WR in a generation who is still in his prime.
Anyway if I were negotiating with Moss, I'd remind him that Payton was the OC when they suffered that 41-0 beatdown in the 2000 NFC championship game. I'd follow up with the fact that the Saints were #1 in passing in 2006 and #2 last year. Finally I'd point out that with both Colston and Reggie on the field it would be difficult for teams to simple double cover Moss all the time. Then I'd show him the money. SFIAH |
