New Orleans New Orleans Saints Agree to Terms with WR David Patten

The New Orleans Saints announced today that they have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with unrestricted free agent WR David Patten. The announcement was made by Saints’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.

Patten spent the 2006 season with the Saints after signing as an unrestricted free agent. The 5-10, 190-pound veteran of 11 NFL seasons caught 54 passes for 792 yards for a 14.7 receiving average last season, along with three touchdowns. Patten’s 54 receptions were the third-most on the team while his 792 receiving yards were the second highest on the squad, and he registered three-100 yard receiving games. His top game in 2007 came on a Monday Night Football affair on December 10 at Atlanta when he recorded nine receptions for 122 yards and a score.

Just lit my celebration cigar (5 Vegas Classic). I think Trent Green would make a great backup too. The guy has to be better than Jamie Martin. Hopefully we will need him just a much.

Haven't posted in a while. Great to be back. Looks like the upgraded the site. Nice.

Notwithstanding the $$$$$ involved...a good move by the Saints. He provides leadership and experience as well as a good target for Brees.

What's going on ForeverFan, where you been?

I really like the Patten signing, even though he's 33. I mean he did have a few games where he just blew up (Seattle, San Fran, Atl). I don't think he necessarily takes too much attention off of Colston, but he does make some pretty big catches. However, I don't know if you guys remember, but in the Arizona game, all we had to do was not fumble, and Patten started running around with the ball like it was a loaf of bread and of course got it stripped. I like him, but I was ready to kill him after that.

Solid move, Colston, Meachem (Hopefully), Copper, Patten, Stonehands. I would guess they'll bring in a young guy in the lower rounds or an undrafted FA for camp. Hopefully somebody will be able to beat Stonehands out in camp.
