he Giants have officially signed S Sammy Knight. According to someone familiar with the terms of the deal, it's a three-year, $5.15-million contract with a $1.25-million signing bonus. Not a bad deal for both sides after Knight signed a one-year, $820k deal with Jacksonville last year.

Sammy didn't look old and slow last year. He made plays and laid pipe. Pak I am sensing your not a Sammy fan.

Fan or not, he'll finish his career a Giant. Sammy was big for a while and his popularity faded. I think Pak was saying that we need some new blood and younger talent for the long term then to bring back an aging veteran. Regardless, I thought he was an asset to the team and we missed out on some of his more productive years.

Yeah I see what your saying. I like Harper and think he will be better this year but Bullocks seems to have a ways to go. Bullocks seems lost at times.

I don't care young, old, whatever we just need a headhunter that makes recievers think a little bit before they catch the ball.

Let me ask you this- do you think the quality of play from our cornerbacks(precisely David) made our safeties look worse that they are, and with the addition of Gay do you think our safeties will look better?

i find this slightly ironic considering last years SB champs are the ones who picked him up...
i'm all for younger, faster defense but i sure like having proven veterans backing them up
oh well done deal - sammy will retire a giant, best of luck to him!!!

Re: Sammy Knight

no, actually i think the opposite... i think the crappy coverage skills of bullocks made david look worse then he actually is.. i think harper played well at times and should be better this year since he actually only got to play 1 year ( he was injured his rookie season).. i really hope we pick up another safety b/c bullocks has regressed every year and it looks to be the same this season

i also think that David, coming from a team that played cover 2, really relied on our safetys to play over the top when they were actually supposed to.. and bullocks' routine to always bite on play-action left us vulnerable to the deep ball....

Re: Sammy Knight

I like your assessment Pak. But tell me this - which safeties are you targeting in the offseason... do you have a choice on FA or draft? If draft, in which rounds?
