Matt Jones on the bubble in Jacksonville
Former Arkansas star Matt Jones appears to be on the bubble with Jacksonville.
DD.comment: Best thing for both parties involved would be for Jones to be traded or released. Matt still has potential in the right system -- evidenced by his 8 catch, 138 yard effort in the 2007 season finale against Houston. Problem is, the coaching staff seems to dislike him on a personal level and David Garrard doesn't look for him much....One wild theory that we've heard is that Garrard isn't that fond of Jones because Matt was real close friends with and a huge supporter of former Jags quarterback Byron Leftwich. And if media reports are accurate, Leftwich and Garrard liked each other as much as Jerry and Newman did back on the 1990's sitcom Seinfeld. Re: Matt Jones on the bubble in Jacksonville
.. when Jones was drafted, I thought that he was a better QB than Leftwich.
I wouldn't mind if the Saints pick him up. He knows the QB position, and as a WR, has speed, height, and hands. I think he's just one of those guys who lands in the wrong place and his skills aren't utilized properly. |

I'd rather have both. Matt Jones is HIGHLY elusive.. I loved him in college. Great size and speed.

The guy was a beast at the combine in 05
4.37 40 with his size is crazy. I've always wondered why he wasn't utilized more in Jacksonville. I'd love to see him in Black and Gold |

Ever since Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell left... it's like they really don't care to throw the ball as much. Once an explosive offense, now they're just a smash mouth football team. I'd love for us to take a chance on a guy like Jones who's a physical freak.

Extremely talented player who would be awesome with the right team who can use his talents. I would have him play the slot or maybe even at TE catching balls behind the linebackers while colston runs wild up the side line.
