Saints offense might have to outscore teams for a while

I’ve said all along that the defense will be better, but it’s going to take some time. They’re young and haven’t worked together too much, so Saints fans will have to be patient. The team may have to outscore other teams for a while.


Personnel observations:


Johnathan Sullivan still has a long ways to go. Derrick Lewis, Derrick Rodgers, and Kenny Smith looked good against the Eagles. Michael Lewis was awesome again. You can expect more big things this year from him.


Keaton not the answer


Curtis Keaton is not the answer at backup running back. I liken him to a smaller Ricky Williams. He has no moves. They’re going to have to do something there.


Haslett has a plan


I don’t think it was any big deal that Joe Horn and Deuce McAllister didn’t play. Haslett has a plan to keep this team fresh down the stretch. From giving some guys off certain practices, to letting these guys skip the first preseason game, he’s trying to make sure there’s no late season swoon again.


One to grow on


The key from this game is to learn from what happened. The young guys have to respond and you should see a much better effort Saturday against the Jets. If not – look out.
